  1. Second Last note on Event.... Geography is a vast subject. Any Hints into what in Geography we should pay "Special" Attention to? Tried the Bonus Cache Today... What a frustrating Shopping Centre. We just could not get most of the clues from the food court... maybe it was just us? never mind find our way around the place. Plenty people in and around Mandela Square for the Fugitive today.
  2. You'd have to find me first. And if you do, make it quick as I don't like suffering. Hmmm, But there is no speeding right? I hope you will enforce the track submission of the winners to ensure no speeding?
  3. Oh, and another thing: Do we know yet how the 2 days will be scored? Are there any Guidlines? Just a question.

  5. Geez, that's bad. Well at least you traded up and did not leave a lesser value trade item...
  6. My PC at home was leveled by a virus of sorts on Saturday . Despite having the latest Anti Virus Software, Anti-Spyware Sotware and a Third Party Firewall in place. So now I have installed Ubuntu Linux 5.04 again. But it is Too old. So I downloaded 7.04 last night 700Mb Worth. Now just need to get it to cut onto disk correctly (as he throws the 4th disk in the bin) But still have issue that GSAK cannot run on Linux, neither can MapSource etc. Catch 22
  7. Did your car Actually get Muggled (stolen)??
  8. Great! Thanks! Will try it out soon, Hmmm, Does one risk getting stuck again though... Oh what the Hey!
  9. Hmmm, sounds interesting, tell me, if it looks like a GPS, Says GPS and one can hold it in your hand, does that not make it a GPS? Yes, I think I got this thing under control now... For the time being anyway. Saw 2 new Published Caches nearish my house today, Thought I would dash out and Redeem them as FTF and my 50th Find. Only to not find them as they were temporarily disabled... You gonna be at Bigger and Better 07?
  10. This is something I have been toying with for a few weeks now... And I cannot make Up my mind... Leviathan Or if that doesnt work try Geocaching ZA Would this be something that people would go for? For example if there were 5 or 6 big items inside and say about R100.00 to R 200.00 each. Would cachers trade up or swop a R100 item for a Mac Meal Toy? Am I living a pipe dream? Could take a while to put together...
  11. Not been that busy caching, could do more if it were up to me, but I am on a diet you know... The blog started off just being a place I could put photo's and news from home for my sister that recently immigrated to Alberta, Canada. She is also an avid cache fan now and converting those Mounties aswell... Yes the Scratch Patch CITO event is about 2.3Km as the crow flies from my house... however, My Sister In Law and her husband have asked us to be godparents and to thier 2 sons and both are going to be Christened at 11AM on the 12th... So unless I want an uprising in the family, I should attend the Christening. So I will have to pass on this one, or make a turn later in the day... Maybe leave some trash for me??? Also keep the fire warm...
  12. Veuve Cliequol Ponsardin will do for the exquisite ending, sure it will be included in the starting fee? Will a slightly damaged Mazda Drifter with Diff Lock be Ok? You guys too fancy with Moet, Kristal and Veuve whatsit... I cant even spell that never mind say it... How about 'n nog 'n eenetjie,...met eish.... Now that would be the perfect ending around a fire...
  13. Nice Blog Triptrick, we've added a link from our blog to yours. Hope you don't mind. Thanks Alot. Will also put a link on mine to yours... Need to get a link section, thats what I was missing... Thanks.
  14. Also Trying my hand at Blogging... http://proudly-south-african.blogspot.com/
  15. True, but then would they not just look at the Wayoint or Cache on thier Screen, Chase it down and Find it, then log it. Would they really care what it is called? Or that is has funny thingies at the end? But to us, it would make a huge difference.
  16. Thanks QFC, Thats all the motivation I needed... Right after the following comment: I am not fed up at all, just thought I would try and help shed some light (or not). But as you rightfully (in a stirring sort of way ) say, [] is also reserved... Now What? And does it really matter any way as cownchicken said. Lets not make a mountain of a small mole hill (to late?). But lets implement something if everyone feels it is needed. Anyhooo, Let me go find something. Enjoy the Weekend Everyone!!
  17. Enlightenment below: Very Briefly; "*" is a reserved character and any "[" or "]" is not. Yes, We are all bright enough, but attention to detail is one of the things that separate a high-quality product or service from the mediocre masses. You can't achieve a quality product or service without a first-class design, implemented with taste and a reasonable degree of technical mastery. So attention to details gives a product or service the professional polish that it takes to rise from good to great. One of these design details that deserves attention in this particular case, is typography, which is the art and science of creating attractive and readable waypoints (in our case.) (This may not be the strict dictionary definition of typography, but it's pretty close to the generally accepted connotation of the word.) Typography transforms plain text into something that is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. What is a reserved character? The path in the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier, the generic term for all types of names and addresses that refer to objects.) has a significance defined by the particular scheme. Typically, it is used to encode a name in a given name space. Some of the reserved characters have special uses as defined here. THE PERCENT SIGN The percent sign ("%") is used as the escape character in the encoding scheme and is never allowed for anything else. HIERARCHICAL FORMS The slash ("/") character is reserved for the delimiting of substrings whose relationship is hierarchical. This enables partial forms. Substrings consisting of single or double dots ("." or "..") are similarly reserved. HASH FOR FRAGMENT IDENTIFIERS The hash ("#") character is reserved as a delimiter to separate the URI of an object from a fragment identifier. QUERY STRINGS The question mark ("?") is used to delimit the boundary between the queryable object, and a set of words used to express a query on that object. When this form is used, the combined stands for the object which results from the query being applied to the original object. OTHER RESERVED CHARACTERS The astersik ("*") and exclamation mark ("!") are reserved for use as having special signifiance within specific schemes. Reserved Characters in a Search String Asterisk *—Specifies any number of alphanumerical characters. For example: corp* returns corporate, corporation, corporal, corpulent, etc. Question mark ?—Specifies any single alphanumerical character. For example: ?an returns ban, can, dan, fan, etc. Anyway, it's far too late on a Friday Night (it's sad that I am on here in the first place at 11PM) to be discussing nonsense like this. But I do agree that something should be implemented and yes, "we're all only running after Ice Cream containers hidden in the bush" but lets make a standard that is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. So I vote for [nnn] instead of *nnn* My rather lengthy 2c worth anyway... (more like R5.00 worth) Que Sera Sera.
  18. So you not comming to Bigger and Better 2007 ??
  19. Hi All, So is it a suffix then right? But is it *GP*? or [GP]? Think the [xxx] would be better?
  20. I thought you might be absolutely dying to respond... you are a stronger person than me, as I would have responded. I look forward to the challenge... And I am R50 poorer. We wnt to the Take a Hike where I damaged my car a few days ago to sort it out... but alas, we went there too late and could not finish it... found all the Way points though... It is really a nice slog.... I mean walk... So I need to get there one last time to finish it up... Also want to take the 2 "Adopt a Cache" in the cache to hide in the park (If they are still in the cache) as it has plenty of good spots and is quite big... One could spend a day or two in there walking around.... might be easier with a real 4X4 though. would only take an hour or two... but then again, whats the fun in that.
  21. LeonW, Doesn't Logging finds also count as "I am not afflicted with GAD I am going to refrain from visiting these forums again until Wednesday." ? -- Just a question...
  22. Seems Trackingfind has it much worse than all of us! How does one get 45 Finds in 7 days? LeonW, I have R 50.00 that says there is a post from you before Wednesday the 2nd May 2007.
  23. Well the South African Cricket against Aussie was horrible. Maybe I give up watching sport on TV and do something useful and that does not dissapoint me. Like GeoCaching... I find myself sitting in my study at 02H30 on this Thursday morning before the long weekend. The BoerBoels are upset about something so they decided to wake the neighborhood with thier wolf imitation and barking. I was not having a good rest anyway, as I was in this semi comotose state of mind, you know when you have things on your mind and you are sleeping, but not really. I actually thought it was time to get up but then I looked at the clock! Not fair. As I actually enjoy a good sleep. Call it another favourite pass-time of mine. So now...sitting here with my favourite Nescafe Espresso Dark Roast Coffee, steaming on my desk, my thoughts turn to Geocaching once more... I have been trying to limit myself over the last week or two, but now that the weekend is upon me, I need to plan for at least two full days of caching. If I can get that one past the authorities... due to my last attempt at finding a cache ended up with me being towed out of a spot my vehicle could not negotiate. Embarrasing to say the least but fun all the same... Think I might try get rid of the drive-by or quickies west of the N1 that are irritating me for one of the days. So some of the West Rand Caches, as they are close to my home in Littlefalls. Then venture out and try some unfinished business with "Take a Hike" and maybe further afield into the Magaliesburg again to finish some there. I am also burning to hide 2 or three now with my mind in overtime about the containers, swag, location etc... So maybe this weekend it is time to hide some to give back to the community as it were. I don't think I will try be "clever" too soon with hiding, I think well placed Traditional regular caches are best for now. Can think of multi's and puzzles later. Anyway, my coffee is finished and now with a double helping of caffeine coursing through my veins, I will try climb into bed again. Night.
