    Hi Clyde -

     

    Small feature request.

     

    When exporting to CacheMate it goes through a process that says "Running CMConvert 'Under the Hood'". This usually takes a couple minutes.

     

    Is there a way you can make the status bar on this dialog show the actual progress of the conversion rather than just having the status bar repeating itself over and over which doesn't give me any sense of how far along the conversion process GSAK is?

    Yeah... once you have it up tp date, it's very easy to maintain!

     

    Actually, you don't even have to maintain it... it just stays correct as you import your new finds in GSAK. It's worth the effort to get things all reconciled since you don't have to constantly be "fixing" things.

     

    I like seeing the actual number of found caches in my database match my geo-reality. <_<

    I some times wonder if people are fooling themselves by using large fonts on high resolutions - personaly I would just use a lower resolution.

     

    Anyway, the bottom line is that all the dialogs have been designed using normal fonts and Large fonts are not supported.

     

    However, I will look at trapping those areas that are responding to the "large" font and force them to use "normal" font so this does not happen.

    It's nothing about "fooling ourselves". Unfortunately with a LCD display, you have to set the display at the highest resolution or the display is not as sharp because it has to dither points to "fake" lower resolutions.

     

    I'd use "extra large" fonts if they were readily supported. Unfortunately the flat screen technology allows for some very high resolution, but at the same time makes the fonts smaller and smaller. I can barely read my "large" fonts on my current display.

     

    "large fonts" also will become more of a standard as people are converting their CRTs to flatscreens. For now, there are tons of programs that have the same problems as yours. If you have time to make the program versatile enough to handle "large fonts" then that's great. Otherwise, it's just a little bit of an inconvenience. It doesn't prevent any operations as far as I can tell.

    Hi Clyde -

     

    A few posts ago I mentioned that several screens in GSAK are appearing to not display correctly. I have my screen resolution at 1280x1024 and "large fonts". Here are a couple screen shots for you to see. It seems like the text is too big for its designated area. It doesn't matter if I stretch the GSAK screen to full desktop size.

     

    EXAMPLE 1: Lock first column, code search, name search, toolbar... overlapping:

    OK... very cool... can add lots of columns I didn't see. The "found by me" is perfect.

     

    So now I've spent 1.5 hours reconciling the CG.com and GSAK listings for my found caches.

     

    How do I backup / restore this database to my other computer? I see the restore function and I see five GSAKautoX.zip files in the Backup directory.

     

    Do I have to restore all 5 of these zip files in the backup directory one by one onto my other computer?

    Phew! I think I finally got all the numbers to match.

     

    I copied and pasted the 197 list from "My Account" into Excel and sorted by name.

     

    I manually downloaded all the archived caches from the (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?ul=robotman) link and added them to GSAK. Still only came up with 196!

     

    So, I copied and pasted the sorted list from GSAK into Excel.

     

    GSAK doesn't sort the same as Excel. And I just realized I should have resorted the GSAK names with Excel instead of trying to piece together the two lists.

     

    After way too much time, I finally determined that the one archived, locationless cache was the discrepency. I went to that page and added it and now GSAK is up-to-date.

     

    That only took about 1.5 hours.

     

    Yes! How do we request that a PQ gives us all our finds?! That would be a much easier way to do this. :grin:

    Thanks for everyone's help. Something still doesn't exactly jive.

     

    If I use this link:

    I see 193 caches.

     

    If I go to 'my account' and list all the caches I've found:

     

    I see 197 caches. (which is the correct according to my own record keeping).

     

    I counted 38 archived caches. I initially was confused on the 'my account' page with the icons. What I was counting were notes that I put in caches that recommended a cache be archived so I only thought 5 were archived.

     

    197 - 38 = 159. Currently in GSAK I'm showing 159.

     

    SO... PQ's DO show locationless caches based on their page coordinates (which are usually an example of the LC).

     

    I don't get the 193 vs 197 discrepency, though. Any ideas?

     

    And any ideas how to get the archived caches without going into each page and downloading the GPX info?

    Yup... double checked query. There is NOTHING checked except "All container types" and "that I have found"

     

    I selected "no origin", highlighted ALL the states, radius of 999 miles, and it still returns only 158 of my finds. I've only cached in the San Fran area so I don't have any caches that would be that far away.

     

    Puzzled...

    Minor Bug.

     

    Some of the dialog boxes don't appear correctly at different screen resolutions. For example I'm at 1280 x 1024 and the first import screen show part of the hidden "advanced" form options at the bottom.

     

    This is just a minor thing. I haven't played around with GSAK enough to know if any of the dialog boxes actually aren't functional because of the resolution display diifferences, but when you get bored (HA!), you might want to check out how GSAK looks at different resolutions.

    Thanks! The international trick worked. I actually only had 13 in England. Still missing quite a few. [:D] I imported these in to GSAK and got up to 157 out of my 198.

     

    I don't think I have more than 3-4 reverse (locationless) caches.

     

    After thinking about it a bit more, I tried "show all caches" in my account page and ALL 198 showed up (plus DNFs and notes). Exactly what I wanted. It was a helpful list because it shows that only 5 have been archived. A great summary of my geo-life. But...

     

    Is there any easy way to generate a GPX file from the cache list on my account page?

    Pocket Queries For All Found Caches?

    Is there a way to do a pocket query for ALL my found caches? I've tried a zip code origin with 10000 miles radius, but that doesn't work. For some reason, I only get 143 out of the 197 caches I've found.

     

    I know I have a couple virtual caches, but not that many. I have a few caches in England (~20). I don't see why I'm not pulling more of my found caches up when I do a pocket query.

     

    Any tricks?!

    OK... I'm a few days behind. And still confused with the whole "offline" webpage thing.

     

    My question again:

    Motley said this is updated with new GPX files, but I don't think so since this "offline" database contains images from the online webpages. Am I missing something? When / how does this "offline" webpage database update with the images from the online webpages?!

    Historical data is maintained by GSAK provided you don't select "Clear Database before loading" when you import *.gpx files. Over a period of time your database will grow and include all the *.gpx data you want to keep.

     

    GSAK already does this for CacheMate exports. Select 'File/Export/CacheMate PDB File...". I don't know about TomTom as I've never used it.

    Thanks for all the info! I didn't understand the filter function. If I understand things correctly, basically you can set what you want to see (and thus export) in the main screen. So that's neat... you can have ALL your cache info in one program, but only export the stuff you need to go find new caches.

    5. I was asking if there's any possibility that GSAK will be able to directly HotSync to the Palm. The problem with TomTom files is that you can't hotsync them and have to manually transfer the files to the card with Card Export or a SD Card Reader (see question #1). If GSAK could directly write files to the Palm, it would make things even more seamless.

    Newbie to GSAK and wanting to use it with TomTom/CacheMate on my Palm. I have a few questions:

     

    1) How do I get the TomTom POI exported files onto the palm so TomTom can see it? Do I have to use Card Export or an SD reader to manually copy the OV2 file to the card? Palm "Quick Install" won't install the OV2 file since it's not recognized.

     

    2) When exporting a CacheMate File, can I export by different categories (or even a filtered list). For example, is there a way to only export "not found" caches?

     

    3) If I want to use GSAK on two computers, what files (or directory) do I need to copy to transfer the settings and databases?

     

    4) How does the offline HTML database get updated? This is a very cool feature, but I wasn't sure how to keep the database up-to-date.

     

    5) Any possibility of direct Palm uploading of the various formats (TomTom, cachemate ...etc) in the near future?

    Navigation Software For Palm T3

    Can someone suggest a navigation system that will work with my Palm T3?

     

    I like the idea of the Delarme Blue Logger with the Handheld Street Atlas, but it seems people have a lot of problems with the system. What alternatives are out there? I have a Magellan SportTrak Pro, but don't necessarily need to use that as the GPS device. I'm fine with buying another GPS as long as it easily interfaces with the Palm.

     

    Basic requirements:

     

    1) GPS unit that can interface with my Palm

    2) PDA software that gives you live navigation (reroutes on the fly)

    3) PDA software that lets you import GPX files (from spinner GPX specifically)

     

    Any suggestions?!

    What Exactly Is Directroute?!

    Thanks for the link. That was very informative.

     

    I'm still a little confused with the topo info. I know DirectRoute doesn't have it, but can you still use your old Mapsend maps at the same time as DirectRoute?

     

    I have a SporTrak Pro (which I believe is supported by DR). I don't know if it would be worth getting if you can't some how use the topo info which is very helpful while GCing. The ST Pro only has internal memory... no SD cards. Does anyone know if I can use the old Mapsend topo info?!
