  1. I have GSAK installed on my computer. I have Cachemate on my Palm. I really enjoy being able to go paperless. But entering waypoints by hand on the 315 is killing me!

I have the serial cable for the 315, but every time I try to send waypoints to my GPSr from GSAK, I get an error code saying "ERROR SENDING WAYPOINTS: MAGPROTO: Read error"

Can anyone help? how can I load waypoints on to this old GPSr.

A newer GPSr is NOT an option for me right now. The 315 is accurate and works great for me out in the field, I just HATE the manual entry part.

I have had some success by transfering from GSAK to EasyGPS (easygps.com) and the into my 315. it has worked for me just fine.

  2. I have had two caches go missing this year.

I had hidden both caches in easily-accessible areas and they weren't difficult hides. One was in an urban park and the other was alongside a dead end country road. I wasn't surprised the urban one went missing but I was surprised the country one disappeared.

I suspect they were found by muggles. If it was another cacher I feel bad for them because the ammo can they took leaked like a sieve.

All those of mine that went missing were not accessible to Muggles, located off the road and in the bush. So Im still baffled as to Who or Why its happening.. whoever it was at the last one left a "calling card" with geocaching logo saying " Missing again? It probably wasn't there on the first or second day either" Now that statement sure made No sense to me. so I have to wonder. !!!

  3. Have many other Geocachers experienced lost or stolen caches?? so far this year I have had 4 of mine go missing one of them twice.. and that is in the small community of Elliot Lake, Ontario!! I would like to find out if this is a usual happening or is it just a local "problem" I cant believe that a regular Geocacher would do such a thing but I guess the coordinate information is available to anyone really. Just hard to fathom unless someone has it in for us !!

  4. Some of the most satisfying caches we have visited have been of the Virtual Cache type. where people introduce us to local history or happenings or points of interest without disturbing the site with a traditional cache. Please raise your voices and mail, to have Virtual Caches reinstated.
