  1. Just wanted to add in case it wasn't clear that you can "open" the kmz by clicking open in Google Earth and pasting the link you provided in the dialog box.
  2. Here's a simple way. Open the kmz in Google Earth. Right click on it in My Place and save as a kml. Download this program. http://www.poiedit.com/ Open the kml, save as gpx, open in MapSource. Edit as desired. I came up with 1531 places.
  3. Yes, you need to put your Pocket query file(s) in a directory on your PC. Then run POI Loader and point it to that directory. Then they will be loaded as Custom POIs. Also, make sure that the icon is named EXACTLY the same as the GPX file (except for the extension) and then it will load as a Custom Icon.
  4. Please, please no sound or videos on cache pages. Please!
  5. Try typing in "spirit quest" without the quotation marks.
  6. Usually, you would mark your current location (which you've already figured out how to do) and change those coordinates to the one you want to search for and then save the new coordinates.
  7. What? To answer the OP, I got that error today using the Geocaching.com map link. Try click on the Google Maps or the Geocaching.com Google Maps link on the cache page. Those links should be working.
  8. Make sure all the Waypoints you want as POIs are in the same MapSource file. You can open multiple instances of MapSource if needed and copy and paste between them. Then save the file as a GPX. Click File, Save As..., the select GPX as the file type. Then put that GPX file in a folder all by itself on your PC. Call the folder My POI or something like so you will remember it. Then connect your GPSr to your PC, be sure it's in Mass Storage Mode, and run POI Loader. Be sure to "point" POI Loader to the FOLDER where you placed your file.
  9. Yeah, I would just ask what is the name (including the extension) of the file you are clicking on? As Red90 stated, an exe file should just execute (run) by itself. If something else is happening, the file might be messed up. If the file is a zip file as you alluded to in your initial post, you would need to download a file to unzip it. Something like WinZip. Just make sure you download a version that is compatible with Win98. You would run the unzipping program, open the file you are looking at, and upzip it. Then you would be able to run the program.
  10. Oh, goodness. Windows 98. Hold down shift while you right click and you should get the "Open with..." option. (Oh, and just so you know, it's extremely difficult to read and understand posts that don't use capitalization and punctuation.)
  11. What maps is your unit showing? This should be under Menu, Map Setup (or something similar.)
  12. You need to change the file associations on your computer. Somehow whatever files your are talking about got associated (their extension. The part after the ".") with MapSource. Or right click on the file you are talking about, click on "Open With ...", select the application you want, and check the "Always use this program" box.
  13. You've listed all the differences. They are the same inside. So it depends on your preference as far as the looks and the button layout. And whether or not floating is important to your application. I got nothin' on the Magellan unit.
  14. I think what you are saying is that you want all the Waypoints in the various files to be in a single file. Correct? Just open all the multiple instances of MapSource. (You can have more than one open at the same time.) Select the Waypoints you want to copy (highlight them in the Waypoints tab). Right click and select copy. Go to the MapSource file where you want them to be and right click and select Paste. Repeat as needed.
  15. Go here ... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/ Type in whatever info you what to search by and Viola!! There you are. For Sweden ... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?country_id=10 Or if you know the Lat and Long for where you'll be, you can enter that.
  16. One degree of latitude is the same length (approx. 69 miles) everywhere on the globe, but the length of one degree on longitude varies depending upon where you are. One degree of longitude will vary from 0 feet at the poles to 69 miles at the equator. Since a degree of latitude is approximately 69 miles, and a minute of latitude is approximately 1.15 miles. A second of latitude is approximately 0.02 miles, or just over 100 feet. The longitude will vary by the cosine of the latitude.
  17. This gets asked so many times a week that I wonder if it should be it's own Sticky at the top. I know that the info is contained in the other pinned topics, but people don't seem to be getting to it.
  18. You need to change the coordinate format on your unit. You are using DMS. You need to be using Degrees Minutes Decimal Minutes for geocaching. There are different formats. 1. Coordinates containing degrees (integer), minutes (integer), and seconds (integer, or real number) (Degrees Minutes Seconds) (DD MM SS.SS ) 2. Coordinates containing degrees (integer) and minutes (real number) (Degrees Minutes Decimal Minutes) (DD MM.MMM) 3. Coordinates containing only degrees (real number) (Degrees and Decimal Degrees) (DD.DDDDD).
  19. But it does answer his question which was "I could only download them "one at a time". Is this correct?" Yes, you can only download them one at a time unless you use Pocket Queries. Whether or not we should be able to download multilple gpx format waypoints at one time from the website is a different issue. If anyone signs up for a Premium membership thinking that this functionality already exists, misunderstands how it works. So we attempted to explain how it does currently work.
  20. kidcow, did you RUN the file on your PPC to install it. You have to do that first.
  21. Go to your account page and click on Build Pocket Queries. You can set up what you want and have up to 500 waypoints per query emailed to you. Also, search the forums for Pocket Query for more info.
  22. You don't have to be a Premium Member. Go to your account page on GC.com. Look about 2/3 down the right side of the page. Click on the Google Earth kml link.
  23. Not sure when you tried to hide this cache, but this is likely a result of 9/11. In the city where I work, we used to store stuff under the water tower. After 9/11, they no longer allowed this due to security concerns.
  24. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipe_hunt
  25. You can't find the platinum membership. When you are ready, it will find you. Seriously though, have you ever heard of a snipe hunt? You might want to stop looking.
