Joe St. Louis Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I have a 64 MB card in my Meridium. When I try to load more than a couple of cities, it seems to erasse previus loads. How do I get around this? It says many MB free. Any Help will be appreciated. Joe Quote
+happycycler Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I believe that you need to load all the maps at one time. Anything that you load will erase what you had on the card. I have selected 4 areas that will use the 32MB on my 32MB card & loaded all of them at one time. That worked for me. Quote
+georgeandmary Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 You have it right, it will delete previous loads. What you can do is get a card reader and make sure you have the latest version of the firmware and then load the maps using the card reader. You can then switch maps as necessary. If you're just added more area to the same map, then you just need to select as much as you want and the load it all at once. george Pedal until your legs cramp up and then pedal some more. Quote
+Kordite Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I, too, have a Magellan (a Meridian Platinum) and hate that it wipes out the memory when I upload, requiring that I load up everything if I load up anything at all. Mostly I hate how much time it takes. One of the options is to have multiple cards. Load up a set of maps onto one card and a different set of maps on another. You should then be able to just switch cards to switch maps. I haven't done this yet myself but I might buy a smaller (cheaper) card for when I make short trips. My main card would have the maps for SW Pennsylvania, my home area. When I would make occasional trips to Ohio, Indiana, Maryland and New York (mostly visiting family), I can load up the maps for those areas on the second card. Kordite Quote
+The Commissar! Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 The way to go is to use a card reader and the latest software (ver 4.06 beta or 4.02 released if your using a MeriPlat or MeriGold). I have a MeriPlat with 4.06 and a 128MB SD card. I have virtually all of the southeastern USA on one card. To switch between detail TOPO maps all you have to do is go to a drop down type menu and pick the one you want. It still takes time to generate the maps but only seconds to transfer the info via USB to the card. Best Buy had a 128MB Sandisk card and Cruzer (reader) pack for $50. I dont think the customers realize that it includes the 128MB card which they are selling for $75 on the ajacent peg?! Such a good deal I might get another just for the card! Quote
+The Commissar! Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 If you want to ADD a map with the card you can do that without having to do them all over again. You may have to trade them out if you run short on space but it is as simple as any other file transfer in windows through windows explorer... Quote
Joe St. Louis Posted February 25, 2003 Author Posted February 25, 2003 Took the advice and got a card reader. This is terrific. all I have to do is select the map for the area I am entering and I have all the streets loaded. Works great. Thanks all for the advise. Joe Quote
