What Means Fdnf

We just placed a cache. Sombody tried to find the cache but he wasn´t successfull, so he wrote FDNF.

DNF = Did not find

FDNF = ?DNF

 

What does the F stands for ?

Well, I thought it was for First to Do Not Find, but I have thought the other while searching.

Congratulations on placing your first geocache. It looks like people enjoy hunting it! Even the First Did Not Find entry.

Waldpiraten, I suspect your first language is not English. The first F in FDNF is a strong word of English profanity.

maybe i'm naive, but because it was the first log and the log wasn't really attitude-y, i would have read it as First Did Not Find.

Just ignore them. Some people just have their minds in the gutter. Don't let it bring you down. The only way we will know for sure is if bit twiddler tells us. Until then I'm keeping my mind out of the gutter.

I sent the fdnf originator and email. If he responds, we'll know what he meant.

I doubt its a typo. The log kinda makes it obvious what it meant.

I cringe when I see initials because I can't figure out what they mean most of the time since I normally don't speak that way. But this one seemed obvious to me after reading the log.

I had heard about this thread, but only found it today. I be that poster. As my response to a private e-mail was posted, I was playing with the FTF and DNF... It was intended to be First to DNF. No, I wasn't trying to be vulgar..... although I and watchdawg were getting very irritated as we tore that bridge apart trying to find the cache (which watchdawg went back that evening and found in a spot we both had thoroughly looked....leading me to wonder if we got there before it was placed).

I guess I need to add this to my logging vocabulary since I am often first to DNF a cache. What really upsets me is that they are often rated 1/1. In fact just this morning I was searching for one of those. Guess I need to add that to my log.

I thought of FTDNF after the fact... Probably would make more sense. But since I was coining an acronym on a whim, it seemed appropriate at the time.

I've seen cachers log a "FNTF" - First Not To Find

 

I wouldn't have guessed a vulgar intent on the "FDNF", even though I'm quite vulgar myself
