Memory Map v Tracklogs v Anquet - discuss.

 

Which do you use/prefer - and why?

If, and only if, anyone congratulates me on my next milestone and if I make it, I would prefer the note to go in the pinned dedicated congratulation topic and not as a new topic here. I am at one with Alex here.

Oh yes and back on topic I find Memory Map so so useful for many things apart from Geocaching, such as the Sunday Times "Where Was I?" puzzle - not that I've won a holiday yet!

Heven't tried Memory Map.

As for Tracklogs / Anquet, I have both and find Tracklogs far more user friendly with a very intuitive design. Have been using it (Tracklogs) since pre-geocaching days planning and then logging all my walks and bike rides.

Memory Map,Anquet close second ,Tracklogs well behind. Ease of use main criteria but in the case of Tracklogs clunky ,slow and cannot be downloaded to a PDA,something that they are addressing at the moment apperently.

After much research - ie reading what people say on here - I went for Memory Map and I think it's great. But my opinion is pretty useless as I haven't tried the other 2 except for the demos.

 

Still think MM is great though.

Memory Map for me. I haven't managed to get to grips with Tracklogs at all. On the face of it though it doesn't do anything that Memory Map doesn't do.

Memory Map for me every time - on PDA and a 7" screen for in-car navigation together with Autoroute and Navigator for street level mapping.

Of those three packages I've only used MemoryMap on my PC. It works for me

Memory map for me too, Brilliant program until friday night before me event cache when it started playing up No reply yet from technical support . Brill when it works though

re Memory Map... its excellent... only had 1 problem, I downloaded the latest version of 2004...(4.4.2 I think) and then MM stopped me importing waypoints ...eventually sussed that the serial number shown was different, so reregistered and all was well..... only disappointing part of the exercise was that when I informed MM that they had a bug, they claimed it was intentional ( the upgrade download is apparently the same as the trial version download !

 

..thanks for the warning MM.!

 

The only quirk to be aware of is that if you import a waypoint which already exists in MM , it just duplicates the point ....it doesn't overwrite... this can eventually slow the application down.

Sorry, that sounds as though the 7" screen feeds from the PDA. It doesn't; I have a scratch built car-puter installed under the front seat to run that with all the software I'm likely to need, linked to the GPSr

OOh! That does sound interesting. (FX - putting anorak on)

 

I wondered about that a while ago. Rip all my CD's to the HD so I can have whatever music I like.

 

Install all my nav software,

 

Perhaps even have a DVD drive in it (not for when driving).

 

Could even hook it up to a GPRS card for internet connection when desperate.

 

Careful, the computer could be worth more than the car.

For me all these peices of software of jargon. I use a simple etrex and have done for 4 years. I dont see the point of upgrading or changing. i know how my system works (nice and simple)
