+Klemmer Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 The object below was found in approximately the location (with a foot or so) of where DX2357 should be. Might this have anything to do with the possibly missing benchmark? Can't say I have seen anything quite like it before. No markings visible. Doesn't seem to be a cover, unless the whole thing unscrews. Unfortunately, it is in a fairly busy traffic area, so it will be difficult to investigate. Anyone have any ideas? Quote
+GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 The data sheets are not detailed as to which kind of (CA.) disc it was. Are there more of the same type marks in the area? Quote
evenfall Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 (edited) Klemmer, Sorry, the low down is as you know: DX2357_MARKER: DD = SURVEY DISK DX2357_SETTING: 30 = SET IN A LIGHT STRUCTURE DX2357_SP_SET: CATCH BASIN DX2357_STAMPING: LINE-405 2F-12-69 The Light structure was a Catch Basin. It is hard to say what this is and other surveyors may have wondered too. If there was data in someone's records that could be another story. As the original hunter said, that entire area was dozed in 1982 to make way for new development, and that was when this benchmark likely met it's fate. Good hunting though :-) Rob Edited May 23, 2005 by evenfall Quote
