johnny.cache
Geocachers, environmentally-friendly folk and concerned citizens joined in to help rid Moncton (New Brunswick, Canada) of one of its ugliest sites - the Wall of Trash, found within Mapleton Park. This trash heap, strewn down a hill in an area approximately 500 feet across by 500 feet down, was a former residential dump and unauthorized landfill site. During the course of the day we unearthed trash dating back 50 years and more. It was an interesting voyage into the past. Some of the more unique items we found were several collector's coins, a very early model of a lady's electric shaver (yikes!), toy cars, unique bottles, and the parts to at least a dozen cars. If we'd had a working car battery, I swear that we could have driven out of the park by piecing that jalopy back together. Cudos to Funky Nassau and organizers for making Moncton's First (and New Brunswick's 2nd) CITO day a big success and a lot of fun. Quote Link to comment
