I just used some of my Harmon taught Photoshop skills recently on the photo below. This was taken a few weeks ago at my daughter's high school graduation. The photo of us was taken right after my daughter's graduation ceremony down on the football field. There were a bunch of people in the background, so I removed us from that background and reinserted us into another shot that I took from the bleachers during the ceremony. I wanted to get the "2007" in the photo and I thought it would be cool to get my daughter in the photo again. So if you look to the left of her head you can see her standing in the front row. My oldest son was studying for his finals up at college and couldn't make it down. So I added him on the far right. Anyhow, this is the complete set of TrailGators! It's a rarity to be able to get us in the same photo and if it wasn't for Photoshop we wouldn't have been together for this one. My youngest son, who is ducking down in front of me was with me when I found my first cache. They have all found caches with me at one time or another. My daughter was the last one to accompany me on a hunt. Anyhow, thanks again Harmon for teaching me how to use Photoshop! It has come in handy!

Speaking of Photoshop ... anybody else using Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3?

 

I tracked CS3 through beta-test and then upgraded to a released version once available. I'm very pleased with the many new and improved goodies offered. Looks like I can do some serious harm to Geocaching photos with the new features.

 

Just wondering what level of interest there is in the new release.

Just before take-off, a Chargers fan got on and took the aisle seat next to the Raiders fans. He kicked off his shoes, wiggled his toes and was settling in when the Raiders fan in the window seat said "I'll think I'll get up and get a coke."

"No problem said the Chargers fan, "I'll get it for you." While he was gone, the Raiders fan picked up the Chargers fan's shoe and spit in it. When he returned with the coke, the other Raiders fan said "That looks good, I think I'll have one too."

Again, the Chargers fan obligingly went to fetch it. While he was gone, the Raiders fan picked up the other shoe and spit in it. When the Chargers fan returned they all sat back and enjoyed the flight to San Diego.

As the plane was landing, the Chargers fan slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened. "How long must this go on?" the Chargers fan fumed. "This hostility between our peoples? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and peeing in cokes."

Actually, I altered the joke from the Packers and the Vikings version that I originally heard (Of course the Packer fan sat in the aisle seat in that version ). It was also definitely spit in the version that I heard. Also, I'm having a hard time connecting a basketball team in Boston with a hockey team in New York or even a baseball team in Texas, but Bovril is a British drink. Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,

I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,

I notice mail on the porch table that

I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,

put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,

and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back

on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,

since I'm going to be near the mailbox

when I take out the garbage anyway,

I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,

and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,

so I go inside the house to my desk where

I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,

but first I need to push the Coke aside

so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,

and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,

a vase of flowers on the counter

catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and

discover my reading glasses that

I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,

but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,

fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.

Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,

I'll be looking for the remote,

but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,

so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,

but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,

but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,

get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to

remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,

I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all dadgum day,

and I'm really tired.

I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,

I notice mail on the porch table that

I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,

put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,

and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back

on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,

since I'm going to be near the mailbox

when I take out the garbage anyway,

I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,

and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,

so I go inside the house to my desk where

I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,

but first I need to push the Coke aside

so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,

and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,

a vase of flowers on the counter

catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and

discover my reading glasses that

I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,

but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,

fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.

Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,

I'll be looking for the remote,

but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,

so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,

but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,

but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,

get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to

remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,

I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all dadgum day,

and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,

and I'll try to get some help for it,

but first I'll check my e-mail....

Sadly, I understand this all too well.

I can't remember if I've had days like this or not...

Well Harmon, I'm glad to see that C4 is interested. I thought for sure that LLOT would be interested. I know RM is interested but I don't know how often he checks these threads now that he is a moderator. Anyhow, we have too many lurkers. Maybe you should have some Photoshop fun with anybody caught lurking. Maybe that would get them interested!

Lesson 16, Part 1 is ready for release along with the previously completed Introduction and Discussion sections. Of course I'll finish the other two parts before posting the lesson.

 

Part one looks pretty darned good even if I say so myself. As a hands-on introduction to color-correction and sharpening using Lab color mode it will surely please participants with their results. My guess is that the lesson will boost the image-editing skill of participants.
