Anybody Want To Buy In?

:) The thought is just begging for Homeland Security attention.

Yeah it a good thing the border patrol didn't bother to look inside of Half-Canadian's camper last year :) .

BTW, I only had to store the cans for about a week last time before they were all gone. Events are a good thing.

So RWW does the WSGA have a grand to back-up a low-ball offer?

Not really. Not with the other things we also have going on right now.

The Campout and the Coins are going to take just about everything we've got.

Seriously, I don't want to get in on this deal, as life is too full as it is, and unlike JCAR, I have no unexplored back sheds to store any in. If I had 10, that would be 8 too many.

I am watching the bid on it, to see where it goes, and with a little planning I may jump on another. Today, someone has bid $35 on the lot, and the next bid is required to be more than $84.87. What the heck is that about? And what is this 10% bidders premium?

None of the serious bidders will make an offer until the last day so those offers are just noise. The bid will won, or lost, in the last two hours. Last year I didn't even bother to bid before then.

The bidder's premium is the web site's cut, the state gets there's also.

I'll take 15 if someone is seriously going to pursue this.

If YA'll are serious about this. I have $1000.00 cash in hand to toss into the mix. I could go $1500.00 but it would put a serious dent in my "Mad money"

Would need to get it back by the end of June.

And NO I have absolutely NO place to put them.

But I'll take 10 :)

Cent5 I think that there is an actual interest. I am astounded that anyone has that kind of money lying around. I would say mak a low ball bid on the last day and see what happens.

A $ per can is really cheap but if it goes to high it stops becoming worth the hastle really quick.

Let me clarify my previous post.

Doing the figures.

I WILL, front, up to $1000.00. With a possible $1500.00 cap. ($1.31 /per) (Too much in my mind)

Per can price would be a hair over $.85. (At the $1000.00 bid)

I have neither the desire nor the time to get involved with bidding etc.

I also have neither the place to store nor the means to ship the items. (If the timings ok I can help with a P/U truck.)

If someone want's to jump up here as our "agent". I will hand over a cashiers check for the required amount to said agent. (Should the bidding be successful.)

:) hey andrewrj. 1st if all, I do not have it "lying around". It is, however, "available". If I can can be of some sort of help to the group as a whole. I will use what I have available to do so.

From the pics, it looks like the lids are separated from the ammo cans.

They put them inside the cans. I'm guessing that's because they take off the lids before putting the cans on the guns to fire. Too much work to remount the lids.

Unfortunately this means the cans collect water. They don't sit around long enough to rust much but it adds weight to the load. I only had a few without lids last time. Since there were about 10 really dented cans it worked out OK and I only ended up tossing out about 3 cans.

If you look at the pictures and read the bid description you will see that the dimensions of the lot are 54x47x708 which would require a 42' semi to transport. Being in the logistics business we could arrange for transportation and warehouse storage (Portland area) at a cost of appx $450. Not sure with the current bid of $645 if it would be worth our time but we'll keep an eye on it.

as mentioned earlier, the duffel bag chain sells a lot of these ammo cans at a decent retail rate.

however, the fox hole surplus store, now with 1 Tillicum location, sells nearly NEW cans for between 3.99-5.99, depending on caliber (7.62-.50 etc..) (at least 1-1.50 cheaper than Duffel Bag)

the tacoma location used to have all the dented, rusted ones, while the Tillicum one had shiny new ones, good seals etc....

The Duffel Bag in Tacoma is selling standard and large size ammo cans in pretty bad shape when i last checked 2 weeks ago, and offering no price break due to condition..

If this lot we're discussing is UNASSEMBLED, what a headache...

I'd almost say the transport costs are going to be fairly prohibitive on this one, even with people donating time and gas, etc..

and where exactly are we going to hide 37 pallets of ammo cans???? ;)

that's one big breeder cache.....

:o

MA, when you bought your lot were there lids for every can?

I think they take the lids off to show there is nothing inside. They are usually dilivered to DRMO with the lids on.

The photos on the site show two of the wooden bins holding the lids (photo #2).

Less than 24 hours remaining - has the designated bidder been determined?

As long as the support is there, based on input from the group in the forums, I will go ahead and do the bidding should another lot become available. My 24 yr marriage might be in serious jeopardy should I get stuck shipping/storing 1000+ ammo cans. :( ("Hey, Honey, Look what I got with your 25th Anniversary present slush fund.") OHH GAWD.

Along this same line, IF cent5 or someone else is willing to be the front man and with as many people interested in getting cans, what would it take to set up a paypal account where those of us interested could send money to start a "slush" fund to buy lots of ammo cans?

1600+ cans. Lids not attached. No guarantee they have all the lids. Hmm figure maybe 1500 good cans and lids assuming people are willing to pay up to $2 a can that would be a max bid of $3000 which doesn't include the cost of hauling or storing them.

Although I don't need that many I'd buy $50 - $100 worth for the cause.
