NAVIGATOR 4.2 with a buy it now price of £24.99 a claim that it is 10 times better than TomTom seems a bit far fetched!

A review of the product here and the fact that he has 10 to sell would suggest that he's selling ripoff copies of the cards that came with the unit.

I use this on my PDA and it is an excellent product (the maps are far newer than TomTom 3). I'm curious as to where he got the SD cards from, as they come with a PDA (with built in GPSr, bought from Aldi for £379) and the software also comes supplied on 5 cds containing all the european maps.

I think Mr G.O.G. is right and he has bought this and is populating it on to blank SD cards. I might buy one anyway and see what the craick is!

Medion is a German company that sells items ranging from DVD home cinema systems to PCs.

 

The Medion mapping software is actully authored by another German company - Navigon.

 

Interestingly, the Navigon Navigator software is currently at release 5 and is only available on DVD media..

 

Was version 4 ever released on SD memory cards? I somehow doubt it..

 

Buy it if you want, but remember that you are probably breaking copyright law, and you will never get any technical support if things go wrong

I wrote to ask the seller for details of whether they were original MMC cards or SD copies. Funnily enough I haven't received a reply.

 

Make your own minds up as to what's happening. Pirate software on eBay(?) - whatever next

You can use UK Postcodes on Navigator v4.2 (you could on V3.0) and also on TomTom 3 the maps are so old the M6 Toll doesn't exist.

No versions were ever released on SD card, they came on 256mb MMC cards (installer & GB maps and only when supplied with the PDA/GPSr package) & CD (installer & maps for major countries in Europe with PDA/GPSr package or as a stand alone software package).

I can get the TomTom3 package with GPSr receiver (wired not BluToot) charging cables for PDA and GPSr and vent mounted PDA holder for £140ish on eBay.

 

Do we think it is waiting for the new TomTom version? Is TT3 upgradeable to the new version?

GPS.co.uk have a wired GPSr, TT3, PDA cradle bundle for £140 too. The GPSr looks smaller. I wonder if it is worth waiting and another £60 to get the BlueTooth GPSr with TomTom5 in June?

the medion software is also only keyed to run on medion hardware (and possibly even the individual unit itself)
