hippy2 Posted May 10, 2005 Share Posted May 10, 2005 i'm considering buying a garmin etrex vista c, i have a fair amount of memory map 2004, will it be of much use to use with the etrex vista, or are garmins own maps better. i am a complete novice as far as gps is concerned so any help would be appreciated. hippy 2 Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's Posted May 10, 2005 Share Posted May 10, 2005 For off the shelf products you can only upload Garmin's Mapsource maps to your Vista. You can download waypoints, tracks, etc. from your Vista to display on the Memory Map program on your PC. Quote Link to comment
+denali7 Posted May 11, 2005 Share Posted May 11, 2005 yes, most gps brands only run their own maps. however, the mapsource maps are excellent. with the vista c, you can use the cityselect maps for perfect directions to anywhere and the topo maps for caching or any other outdoor activity. i absolutely love my vista c. check out the reviews for any gps out there at amazon.com. there are manufacturer details and customer reiews that i found very helpful when i was in the researching stage.
