Geocaching Soundtrack

Recommended Posts

Jane's Addiction had a song called, "Three Days". Thats how long it took me to find a film cannister micro hidden in a rock pile ... :(

As already mentioned, Ray Charles is the man. Also, old Iggy and the Stooges is fun stuff along with Frank Black and the Catholics/Pixies. I could also listen to Van Morrison anytime ... At 42, I've started to slow down in my music buying. I must be getting old cause now I love to listen to sports radio, oh yeah baby !!!!

PS- I forgot about Fishbone, these guys are great and get very little attention ...

Ha!....Cool to see someone else likes Fishbone...

Also R. Carlos Nakai....

Right now i have these in the truck, just to name a few:

Janes Addiction: Live & Rare

Nirvana: Bleach and Blew

Beastie Boys

Primus

Mother Love Bone

Fat Boy Slim

Kyuss

RHCP

Fudgetunnel

Metallica

Mudhoney

Rush

Grateful Dead

Tool

I dont listen to music once I leave the truck...I also find it too distracting....When I'm in the woods, I like to LISTEN to the woods...

I guess if I DID have to listen to music while actually caching, it would be something mellow and new agey. (Although some Pink Floyd might work here also... )

Michael Hedges

Will Ackerman

Babatunde Olatunji

I also have some Australian aborigine soundtracks,

as well as some Egyptian flute music...

A cache of mine is devoted to this topic. The actual station in question is KEXP 90.3 (web site http://www.kexp.org). The station plays a highly eclectic mix focusing on local and indie type music during the days and specialty shows on evenings and weekends. they have won a couple of Webby Awards for best online radio station. Listeners from around the country sing their praises.

 What a great thread!

We tend to listen to Barenaked Ladies (the band. get your mind out of the gutter) quite a bit because they keep us going. When I'm trying to really think or relax, it's usually classical music. It would be conservative talk radio if it were up to my husband, but it would end up being a long walk home or between caches for him.

Do you think if we lobbied Sirius or XM, they'd start a Geocaching radio station for us?

My son recently got the American Idiot cd by Green Day. I liked it so much I went out and bought Nimrod and Dookie. I'm a 42 yr old husband and father of three, I'm not supposed to be rocking out to punk rock ... What can I say, I like it.

"Life's a be-atch and so am I, the world owes me so funk you ... "

New to the game, thought I'd chime in on what I placed in a playlist on my iPod for my first trek.

1 - Inkubus sukkubus - pagan born (always get's me going for outdoor activities)

2 - Neal McCoy - Got Mud (Also my off roading theme song for obvious reasons)

3 - My Chemical Romance - Misc stuff, love their sound

4 - London After Midnight - Misc stuff

MANY more, too many to recall off the top of my head. We'll see how psyched they get me on Wednesday when I hunt down 15+ in my local area.

Yes, I have a VERY eclectic taste in music ;)

Now that's what I call good music!

If we're caching as a family, it's usually in the wife's car with satellite radio. If she's in control, it's tuned to Prime Country. If I'm working the controls, it's Big 80's. Since my favorite rock station switched formats to classical, I sometimes listen to that if I need to relax. Otherwise, it's a toss-up between talk radio and my massive mobile CD collection: Queen (Greatest Hits), ABBA (Gold), Rush (Moving Pictures) and Les Miserables.
