I need Ideas....

I decided that no time was better than my 21st birthday to hide a GeoCache... SO, I was thinking ideas... I know we can't do alcohol, etc.. so filling the cache with airplane bottles is out (lol), but I want to make it kinda themed towards it being my 21st birthday and all....

Can y'all help me out and brainstorm a list for me of stuff I could put in there??

And I know that we can't make the container glass, but what if I wanted to put a shot glass or something in the cache.. Would that be okay?

if you have any how about casino chipsor maybe your local bars have a chip you can get a free drink with? Some of the bars here have that they look like a casino chip but with the bars name on it.

A shot glass would be OK as long as you protect it. Maybe a little bubblewrap around it.

For my 21st birthday we went to Las Vegas. Since it might be too hard to do something too much themed around alcohol then maybe you do a Vegas theme. (The other cool thing about turning 21) You know...dice, cards...you could find a ton of Vegas stuff. A Casino Cache...

Okay, so here's what I've considered so far for contents...

*shot glass

*champagne flute bubbles (the dollar store has mini flutes that are filled with bubbles.. i thought they'd be cute)

*Jack Daniel's Bottle Cap (my fave drink!)

*playing cards

*dice

*poker chips

*birthday candles

What else??

21, huh? congrats...How about a naked girl to jump out of the ammo box? Might not be appropriate for kids, but you could put warnings on the outside of the cache... icon_cool.gif

21 makes you street legal in 50 states.

When I turned 19 there were 5 states left that let you drink at 19.

Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming, Ohio and Hawaii. I got to them all but Hawaii that year.

You can do a street legal theme. or a 50 state tour, or a 21 theme and a ton of other things.

Wow... a nudie post and a bible verse all rolled into one... lol

I don't think I'd much like a naked woman in my cache, thank you... (Well, Allyson Hannigan can jump out any time, and she *did* play a lesbian on television).... A Naked man, on the other hand, might be a totally different story... icon_biggrin.gif Any volunteers? Tryouts will be held from now until my birthday! (Happy birthday to me... I can't wait to see.... How y'all look jumping... out of my cache at me.... )

*runs away from this topic*

Okay.. I have a few ideas... But I don't totally know what I want to do yet.. Need to find a good location where I can hide a cache... That's the biggest problem... Not to mention that the first finders will be looking in less than good weather... (i'm not hiding it for a few months, but I want it to be *perfect* so that's why I'm starting it now...)

I am *really* looking forward to seeing this cache submission show up in the approval queue. I may have to investigate it personally to make sure it complies with all the rules!

Seriously... about a cache location... ask some of the NEO Geo veterans for ideas. Or if you prefer to work on your own, remember that most of the MetroParks in your neck of the woods require permission before placing a cache. Perhaps a smaller town park might work better? Look at a map and find green park spaces that don't yet have any caches in them.

A 21 stage multi??? I'd kill myself before anyone attempting the cache could get the chance to!!!!!!!

On second thought, that sounds like a really really fun idea!!!

Even when a cache fits within the rules it may be rejected for not other reason than the keystone approver does not like the idea of where it is being place. I love this line, "maybe a local park is a good place". Maybe a local park sucks as a cache place! Maybe it is time to approve what is submitted, when it fits the rules, and leave your personal feelings out of the decision.

When you turn 21, you get to play the lottery, too. Let the cache fill itself up by putting in a bunch of $1 scratch off tickets, and people can trade them out and leave you "birthday gifts" in your cache.

Ouch!

Sour grapes? 6 finds in over a year, and 3 hides in a year, why do you even care?

Do a multi-cache with the stage long/lat numbers printed and posted high on telephone poles just outside bars. Not sure what you do about the final cache but perhaps to a local park or a micro or something.

First, let me explain my original posting in this thread. The first part (about checking out the cache personally) was done in jest, in view of the interesting suggestions about this cache placement! The second part of my post was intended to impart friendly advice to a newbie hider. Fly46 lives in an area where the county park systems regulate geocache placements, so I wanted to make sure she knew the rules that applied in her area in order to avoid problems.

Second, I think adp113 indeed has a case of sour grapes, because I archived a recent cache submission. After discussing adp113's cache with six other admins, we were unanimous in deciding not to approve a cache that would require the finder to enter adp113's backyard in a densely populated residential area, via an alley, and then search in his compost pile to find the cache. Oh, and all the while, you're being watched on a webcam. Many of us have seen problems with caches on private property in populated areas: parking challenges, trespassing, barking dogs, complaining neighbors and so forth.

If the geocachers of Berks County would rather hunt for caches in backyard compost piles instead of caches at Blue Marsh Lake or along the Appalachian Trail, let me know and I'll reconsider the submission.

The lotto is only 18. It's gambling that's 21.

Thanks Keystone. I did know that most of the parks are metroparks land, which would need approval, but I'm looking around Kingsville, OH, which to my knowledge has no metroparks. Not that I'll find a good spot there, but that's where i'm looking right now. .

Not this geocacher!

-- I've found 58% of the caches in the country! How are your numbers? ;-)

This is a neat idea. You don't have to post complete coordinates, per se, either. You could - if you liked - somehow use the numbers that are usually already attached to these utility poles (serial numbers, dates, and such) ...
