During boring coding sessions I have taken a few moments to work on this page:

It is pretty straightforward but is a neat way to visualize log entries. Even though the url says it, the data isn't exactly "live"

That's pretty cool Jeremy. This is fun because I can look at pictures on the trip route I am taking next week and see what caches I might be interested in doing.

 

How far back do the pictures go. Is it a one day thing?

I grab the last 1,000 photos only. That already makes for a long load time.

That feature would rock for locationless caches! Show all waypoints already logged for each cache (each cache could have its own map)

Technically I'm picking up the latest pictures with logs.

 

I haven't been to the confluence project in a long time. I've been looking for a replacement for the travel bug maps and came across this deal a few months ago. I'm working with the developer to allow tb style features to track a bug's progress.

 

This was originally used for flikr.

Cool!! I can see a lot of neat uses there. Most of which would have the database straining......... but cool!

Actually it generates an xml file so the load is only once in a while. We have one idea to have a map that actually refreshes occasionally so you can watch new logs pop up on the map as they are posted. Now it's getting to that database strain moment but still not so bad.
