cc260E
Using the information given in this forum, I could load sectors larger that 64 M ( ie up to 300M) with Mapsend direct route SW. But Magellan Color GPS refuses to load sectors above 180M. (displaying the message "invalid detail map file". Anybody knows how to extend this limit? tiber
What in Gods name are you trying to map? Yeah, there's a weird limit in there which has a lot of technical play "under the hood". The best I can offer is to keep the maps smaller then that and if you must, rename some IMG files. There's is a limit, even if you choose to change the software configuration. If you, for instance, find "blue" areas on the map, that means the Color is still loading that region. Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
Having a large map is not always a good thing, It will slow down how fast the GPS starts because it has to deal with data for a large map. Even 64MB is going to cover more area than you can cover in a day unless you are in the habit of driving hundreds of miles between caches. Even if your are on a long raod trip you only need to have detailed maps for the cities your are going to stay in, the major highways will be part of the base map. Quote Link to comment
cc260E
In Europe, the size for a complete for a country is around 250M for detailed maps. I prefer to try to have one single detailed map for each country rather than several sectors. With sectors of 64 Mb it is a little bit limited. Quote Link to comment
