Blackshoe
New hobby for the Blackshoe Clan this year. The kids are all spun up to go treasure hunting. Got my etrex yesterday and our first cache hunt will be this weekend. Just wanted to say hey. I'll be lurking until I have a question that somebody else hasn't asked! Blackshoe Clan is fixin' to cache in! Quote Link to comment

+Dave_W6DPS
Welcome to the assylum! What model Etrex? I have the Venture, and love it. Being able to download waypoints makes it very easy to use. Do you have the PC interface (serial) cable? If so, be sure to check out: www.easyGPS.com This forum is a pretty good place to get basic questions answered. And welcome, again! Dave_W6DPS My two cents worth, refunds available on request. (US funds only) Quote Link to comment
Blackshoe
The yellow one. No other name on it or the manual. No cords, connectors or cases. Not even a lanyard! (I was all about keeping the entry costs low, so got it at Wal-Mart.) Been messing with it and reading the manual. Gonna work fine I think. Thanks for the welcome! +Bountyhunters
Once you find your first cache, you're hooked. garmins are nice. I have the Etrex Vista. A hint for finding caches. Look for the obvious place first and don't give up. Some are well hidden. Quote Link to comment

Having the PC cable makes it MUCH easier. You can use your computer and EasyGPS to download a list of waypoints to your GPS. Much faster than entering each one manually. The cables are usually available on EBay for about $10. Of course, this is entirely optional. Enjoy yourself, and you are doing it right. My two cents worth, refunds available on request.
