+Firth of Forth Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Any of you who have read the write up of the Scottish Geocachers' event on Bute may be forgiven for wondering about this line: "Sorry Wildlifewriter, but I just couldn't work out how to include money, sex or violence into my account of the weekend." After his visit to Scotland to attend the SGDO - Ratho Park, Wildlifewriter was unanimously nominated to do the write up for it. And very amusing it was too! What you won't know is that he also wrote an even funnier alternative account for the Scottish forum (see how many cachers' names you can spot), which goes like this: "The problem with geocaching (and birdwatching, and golf, and all the other things I write about) is that - unless you're actually involved - it's so BORING. What our hobby needs is a bit of interest: money, sex, violence and a hint of danger. Imagine if Ian Fleming were writing about it... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Bond signed the log, and returned the cache to its hiding place. The mission was nearly complete. Slipping Q-branch's latest marvel – a miniaturised Snaik GPS receiver – into the pocket of an immaculately tailored dinner jacket, he paused to wipe a speck of Lothian mud from his hand-lasted Pooter brogues. From behind him, came a very faint click. Bond spun into a crouch and his compact Ullium nine-millimetre automatic spat twice. A grey squirrel twitched and went down, falling into the leaf litter with a soft thud. He straightened: “Fasht, my friend – but not quite fasht enough...” Turning, he slid behind the steering wheel and soon the Borthwick Continental GT was heading citywards, the snarl of its race-tuned twelve-cylinder engine echoing across the Water of Leith. The woman in the passenger's seat crossed her legs, causing the hem of her Allieballie designer dress to ride up and reveal the merest hint of pink lace beneath. Bond took in the soft curves of her body with an appreciative eye. “ Sho tell me, Ms... Anderson – what do you like to do when you're not geocaching?” Quote
