rodhawaii
I want to type "DEGREE" with the symbol, and know there's a keyboard map in my new laptop, but can't find it. Like if I want to type N100*155.5 I have the astrisk but not a "Degree". Can anyone tell me where to find that degree symbol? Quote Link to comment

+larsl
On my keyboard it's Alt Gr + Shift + 0 (that is ZERO on the upper row, not on the numerical keyboard). It's a Swedish keyboard though. Quote Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
I hold the alt key, and type 0186. º actually, 0186 is a superscripted letter "o". To get the degree symbol, use ALT+0176 ° Quote Link to comment
+sTeamTraen
Get AllChars from www.allchars.net. It's totally free freeware, not spyware, no pop-ups. Then type "Ctrl, o, .". And for é type "Ctrl, e, ' ". And for ß type "Ctrl, s, s". You need never again fear losing that old yellow Post-It™ with obscure 4-digit codes. (™ is, of course, "Ctrl, T, M"). We use AllChars all over our corporate network and it's a tremendous timesaver. Quote Link to comment

+Destil
Can anyone tell me where to find that degree symbol? Search "charmap" File is located somewhere in the windows directory, depending on which version of windows you have. Windows install tends to put a shortcut into the Start Menu>Accessories>System Tools folder (occasionally I have found it in the Accessories folder). I use the character map for all sorts of things, not the least of which is odd symbols or for using sybol/webding type fonts. If it is not installed on your system, and you have admin rights, you can add it by updating windows components. ~Destil Quote Link to comment

+Hoppingcrow
I'd vote for the character map. To find it, look in All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map. Just cut and paste from there. Quote Link to comment

+luvvinbird
No downloading of anything. Simply Google "alt codes". They're all there. I like it better than Character Map because I can find the character I want faster. Edited September 1, 2011 by luvvinbird Quote Link to comment
