+StarBrand Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 (edited) I will be setting up and participating in the 3rd annual CITO day on APril 16th - (even if I am the only one to show up for the local event). Are you going to??? I will - to help give Geocaching the good name it deserves. Edited April 15, 2005 by StarBrand Quote
+carleenp Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 (edited) I will be at the CITO on the opposite end of the state from Starbrand. I hope everyone gets out to a CITO event this year or in the alternative privately practices CITO while out caching. I will also note that the parks really do notice CITO. Just last night I attended a Natural Resource District meeting where a board member clarified that there would not be fees for permits in part because of how cachers give back to the parks through CITO. +briansnat Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Nope, I coach a U-16 girls travel soccer team and we have a State Cup match that is scheduled smack in the middle of the nearest CITO event. The CITO is also over an hour and a half drive from the field so I can't even stop by, say hello and pick up a few gum wrappers. Quote
sporkboy Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I will be attending and I've placed a couple caches for the event. Fortunately it's less than a mile from my house so I lucked out on that:) I haven't been to a caching event so I really want to meet the people that I know by their caching names only. It's also nice to clean up areas that are often neglected. Quote
+Moose Mob Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I pretty much CITO every time I go caching. Quote
+Konnarock Kid & Marge Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Yes because the devil made me do it. Quote
+Apple Dumpling Gangg Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Unfortunately we won't be able to. The Leader of the gangg has to work, and I have a bad head cold. The Pocono Geocachers adopted a highway this year for our CITO and I had really hoped to be there. Of course if the Leader had the day off, we would have been late to the CITO anyway. Saturday if the first day of trout! Quote
Yellow Trickster Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Yes, because I don't have the CITO icon in my list of 'finds' yet. Quote
Iplayoutside Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I have to work tomorrow. Seems like everytime our local community plans something, I have something else going on. Wonder why they don't check with me first before scheduling this stuff. Quote
Archaeologist-PA Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I would love to go and meet some fellow geocachers, but I'm flying out to Nevada tomorrow... Quote
+Anonymous' Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I would like to do a CITO event and meet other cachers but I have another engagement. We will be cleaning up part of an indian reservation. Quote
+planemaker Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Nope.......went caching today, and did my CITO clean up then. Quote
+TetrAmigos Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I was going to until the wife decided to go out and stick me with the baby. Quote
+Isonzo Karst Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Driving a ways to a CITO Event in the morning - caching like a maniac in some new territory in the afternoon and evening. Great weather, breezy and coolish/warmish. Looking forward to it. Quote
+Marcie/Eric Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I won't be attending any CITO event. But if I go caching, I'll pick up any trash I see. I think the closest one for me is about 100 miles away near Modesto, CA. With these gas prices. I'm sorry. Quote

Are you going to??? I will - to help give Geocaching the good name it deserves. Is there a question of 'do you CITO' or 'is there a planned event in your "area" tomorrow that you plan to attend'??? the answer is yes in both cases, but I'm not sure which you're asking. +TheAlabamaRambler Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Yep, am co-hosting a CITO event, one of 4-5 we do every year in the AGA. GCN62Y - CITO at DITTO Hope to see you there! Ed Quote
+CCATBQFM Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 (edited) TAG CITO How could we not go...it has become tradition in our area! Good friends, good food, good work....can't go wrong! Edited April 16, 2005 by jpenn01 Quote
+KoosKoos Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Not tomorrow...I'll be leading hike tours as part of Austin Nature day. But I'm hosting an event as part of the Austin's It's my Park day next weekend! Now if someone else would just host one so I could claim a CITO icon find! Quote
Yellow Trickster Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 >Now if someone else would just host one so I could claim a CITO icon find! Why don't you just claim a 'find' on your own? I don't think it's the same as claiming a find on your own cache. If you attended the event you organized then why not!? Quote
+TresOkies Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I pretty much CITO every time I go caching. Ditto that. I would be with my fellow Okies in Tulsa this weekend but I can't make it. They know why and I have a hall pass. -E Quote
+BadAndy Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I'll be attending our cito event tomorrow. We're cleaning up just above the snake river canyon, near Evil Knievels failed jump attempt. This is one geocaching activity where it's definately all about the numbers (of tons of trash removed). Quote
+Dagg Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Yes because it’s too crappy out to go kayaking. Quote
CoyoteRed Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Slackers. We already did our cleanup! Us, too! Got an email the other day from the county contact and we picked up 4500 lbs of trash and 2500 lbs of scrap metal. (I need to go put that on the cache page.) Quote
+Wander Lost Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Right now the rain is comming down sideways and creating rivers in the driveway. But I'm just gathering up the energy to go drag the kids out of bed and get them bundled up. I'm a native Washingtonian if we let rain stop us, we'd never leave the house!!!!!!!! Quote
+Team Cotati Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I, like most cachers, CITO every time that I go out. Today will be no different. Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 (edited) Trying to take a break from work and go to the CITO, but not sure yet if I'll be able to. Edited April 16, 2005 by Team GPSaxophone Quote
+JohnnyVegas Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I will not be, I am looking for a house to move into, so any other activties for me are going to have to wait for a while Quote
+Cool Librarian Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 (edited) No CITO today for me, as I am at work and my "local" CITO event is an hour away. HOWEVER- I have planned a CITO event for RI to be held May 1. RI CITO, Kayak, and Maintenance Event For those of you unable to CITO today or make another event, you will have the opportunity to log a smiley on MY event even if you live in another country! It's very simple: If you were unable to attend another CITO event for whatever reason, you may log my event if you: 1. CITO and/or MAINTAIN your (as in the ones YOU OWN) cache sites -OR- CITO (and by CITO I mean pick up a good amount of trash) at a cache site that really needs it 2. Post pics (before and after, or pictures of the trash collected, or pictures of your NEW cache containers/goodies etc) to the event website between May 1 and May 8 3. Lastly, if you have logged another CITO event, please do not log this one. This opportunity is for those who had to miss out on the fun of an event for some reason. Now, I have already had a bit of negative feedback about this - some think you should actually have to attend to log it. However, um, I don't care. To me, the spirit of CITO is helping out - so, if you can't make an event, you should still be able to help out and get the added bonus of a smiley. So, here ya go! I have added cache maintenance to this as well (or instead of a straight CITO) because I am a freak about cache maintenance, and spring is the perfect time to make the rounds of your caches, clean/restock/replace containers, relocate if warrented due to environmental impact, and ARCHIVE those caches that need it. Peace, -CL Edited April 16, 2005 by Cool Librarian Quote
Golden_Spike Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 I was thinking about going to a CITO even, but it was like a 60 mile bike ride. I was going to make a little trip out of it, but i'm still out of shape from the winter. Instead i rode to a new nearby cache and practiced some CITO there after finding it. It was a nice little outing. Quote

I know of one cache that could use some CITO, and since there wasn't a CITO event anywhere near where I live, I will try to do that next time I have to drive into town. At the price of gas -- $2.65/gallon -- I can't make a special trip . . . Quote

+slapshot52 Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Yes, because I don't have the CITO icon in my list of 'finds' yet. I just got back from our local CITO event and I have to admit that one of the reasons I attend was because I didn’t have a CITO find on my stats. It wasn’t the only reason I went, but I’d be less than honest if I told people it wasn’t a factor in my decision to attend. Quote
+TeamK-9 Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 I didn't get to go to one because our local group was unable to have one for today, (possibly planning one mid-summer) and the closest group having one was probably an hour and a half away... Quote
+SkinGuy Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Did it. Enjoyed it. Made the world a slightly better place, if only for a while... Quote
+justybug Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 i hosted one to help payback the property manager in a really cool area i've got a couple of caches placed. it's a great area that i've known about for years, but most people don't even though they drive right by it.. it was really cool to meet some local cachers, and it's the first volunteer thing i've done in forever. i'll definitely plan or attend a few others!! smartfair Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 (edited) Just wanted to let people know that the students of North River Road School in Indiana CITO 4 miles of the Heritage Trail on Friday in honor of CITO Day! Probably took out 7 large trash bags, toilet parts, antenna, tires, and much more. We will continue to Trash Out on all future caching adventures. Edited April 19, 2005 by smartfair Quote
+New England n00b Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 No, I won't CITO on the 16th. But I did on the 17th when I hiked up Mt. Watatic. Pretty clean, though. Have to go back with somthing less precious (ie grocery bag) to pick the rest up in. I don't know how it was on the trails on the 16th, but "thanks" to all you hardcore CITO-mongers out there! Love to see more pictures - (some are on teh front page banners!) Quote
