+Yamahammer Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I'm just getting into G-Caching and I've always had this Etrex. I've only used it to track in and out of hunting holes on rivers. Now that I'm into this. This could prove to be more addictive than duck hunting. I know I can change the coordinates on the "Mark Waypoint" page. If I change the coordinates before I leave home to locate the desired cache, how will this affect the location while traveling? Will it tell me when I'm close or have I screwed up in reverse? Set Waypoint to the coordinates of the desired cache; leave the house; what happens next? The reason I'm asking is I don't want to screw this thing up and have to send it off or throw it in a river. Any advice will be appreciated. Yamahammer Quote
+Pasha Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Your location, as read by the Etrex from satellite data, has nothing to do with which waypoint you're tracking or what the waypoint's coordinates are. Think of waypoints as targetted locations - the GPS can lead you to them, but they don't have anything to do with where it says you are right now. Quote
