I hadn't thought of that.

 

I wondered if someone might have a history lesson for us though?

Donnington just means ...

 

don = hill

ing - settlement on a river

ton - settlement/town

 

therefore, it is not really strange that there is more than one.

 

I always thought that Penrith should be in Cornwall and Thirsk should be in Scotland... oh yeah, and Sunderland should be towed out to sea and dumped! :(
