Trivia Question

Recommended Posts

I would never have guessed this, and I just discovered this accidentally, and wonder how may people actually knew

Which pieces of British legal tender (money) can be picked up with a magnet

Easy question to answer if you got a magnet and the right items of legal tender.

BTW yes I am playing with magnets, and yes it is Cache related

An interesting sidenote is that the copper plating is wearing off on some of the older ones, which sometimes leads to people believing they've discovered a valuable "silver" penny amongst their change!

An uninteresting sidenote is in 1998 bronze versions of 2p coins were made for a short time due to operational reasons. Approximately 55% of 1998 2p's are bronze, and 45% are copper plated steel, according to the Royal Mint.

Well, actually, I think that is interesting! :o In that case they're not all magnetic from 1992 onwards - I hadn't realised that.
