AE_Rodney Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Where does the nickle come in, is it part of the print? We were trying to figure this out and even thought it might be a type of wood (nickle wood?) (stupid us, I know) While I'm at it, what are their measurments? I will check out geocacher.co.za to see if the measurement are listed there, I'm just asking in case. Quote
+geocacher_coza Posted April 6, 2005 Author Posted April 6, 2005 The "Nickel" comes from the supplier! The company calls it a "nickel" and everybody on the geocaching forum calls it a nickel as well! Size: 38mm Quote
+SilverMarc Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 The "Nickel" comes from the supplier! The company calls it a "nickel" and everybody on the geocaching forum calls it a nickel as well!Size: 38mm The old expression was, "Don't take any wooden nickels!" Banks and other outfits in the old west apparently produced their own "coinage" ("woodage?") when necessary, but often their value fluctuated (that is, fluctuated to zero!). Hence the warning. So now those wooden slugs are called wooden nickels. I'm sure a Google search wood turn up the full story, but I wooden know.
