My family and I try to do this once a month. We will usually pick an area that has different types of caches, then find an area within this zone that we can camp at. Sometimes we find a great camping spot, then plan caches around it. We try to at least have a camping area planned before we set out, (necessary with a three year old!), unless we have a sitter, then we will wing it! We usually go for 4-6 days or so, and we have found that if we spend some time searching on the internet, and talk to cachers in the area that we are looking to go to, we can find some of the best camping / caching sites to be offered.

Hope this helps some.

My wife and I just did it(no kids)!!!! We went to Stone Mountain in GA for the weekend, stayed in their campground, basically for our anniversary but still managed to get in 9 out of 11 caches in on Saturday. It was a great trip to a great area.

Just pick an area you would like to visit, then search for the caches in the area. You could ask about campgrounds in the area on the forum.

Have a great time.
