+Alan2
I just reloaded Metroguide (discs at 4.03). I originally had upgraded to 5.4 but I hear that I might lose autorouting on my PC if I upgrade to 6. Is that true? Tks. Quote Link to comment
peter
If you have version 4 of MetroGuide-USA, it'll provide auto-routing both on your PC and on appropriate Garmin GPS receivers (like the 60/76c/cs, VistaC/LegendC, etc.) regardless of what version of MapSource you use. Go ahead and upgrade to the latest version downloadable from Garmin's website. If you purchase an upgrade to the actual maps, i.e. MG-USA version 5 or MG-NA version 6, then you'd still have auto-routing on your PC but those versions don't support downloading the routing data to GPS receivers, Quote Link to comment
tubemonkey
Which version of MetroGuide -- v4 or v5 -- should I use for an eTrex Legend? I have both versions (NIB) and only need one. Any help would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment

Any help would be appreciated. Either will be fine. MG4 and MG5 has two different data sets. MG5 data comes from NavTeq which is allegedly more accurate. I don't like the NavTeq data because it omits certain physical features like lakes and rivers. MG4 will autoroute on a device that supports it, MG5 will not. The legend does not autoroute, so it doesn't matter for you, either way. It's entirely your choice which you like better. When you download your maps to the Legend, make sure the "include routing data" check box is cleared (not checked). Quote Link to comment

Neither my City Select or MetroGuide 5.0 had the lakes and rivers at my last Geocaching Event in Alma Michigan in Feb. I should have had my SporTrak Color GPS with TOPO loaded. Me and my friend failed because the GPS 60C let us down, because of a lack of land features in NavTeq products. Quote Link to comment
