Geocaching Blogs

I've noticed quite a few personal websites about Geocaching. But I have only come across a few blog sites about the daily lives of cachers. Do you or does someone you know write a blog about their geocaching adventures?

Although I've only been caching for a few weeks, mine is Adventures in Geocaching.

Now that is cool! ;)

I've got my own website already and was planning on adding a section for my Geocaching adventures to mainly have a place I could expand on my hunts & hides a little more than on my log posting.

The only reason I haven't done it yet is because I just haven't had the time to come up with a good layout and graphics.

This is just the ticket.

Right now they are predicting for Saturday to be a washout here (hope not :tired: ), so I may just jump on the hosting site there and start mine up.

Thanks for the lead.

Right after I started this obsession, er, hobby, er, activity, I added a couple of pages to my website

with photographs from my adventures, but I never thought about doing the blog idea. :tired:

I think I need to get back on that project, and expand it a bit with this as inspiration.

Thanks M-T-P!

Nice blog, M-T-C.

I wonder if this is a feature GC might add to it's site (Premium option?) Of course, one could argue that the current ability to upload photos with comments gives similar functionality. It's just not in blog format. Just a thought.

No problem. I hope that works for you. I'm not terribly wild about Picasa 2, but like how it interfaces directly with Blogger. Google is really branching out in what it does!

We’ve recently come down with geocaching fever and are getting ready to add a geocaching section to www.dzrtgrls.com. We really enjoy checking out the blogs and websites of fellow geocachers. It gets the creative juices flowing.

and here I thought logs on caches were a blog of sorts.

Possibly, but logs are more cache-oriented, whereas blogs would be more user-oriented.

And of course, if you provide a place for someone to respond to your blog entries with their comments, you basically have a forum.

So I guess the main REAL difference would be the ability to personalize it. Therefore (despite my earlier comments) blogs probably should be left to the individual and not incorporated into GC.

I've been blogging for several years now. I have a Geocaching section on my website, but the site covers many other topics.

I'll agree. There is a significant difference between a cache log and a personal blog about geocaching. Cache logs are there to track caches, blogs are there to allow individuals to share what is on their minds - in this case also about geocaching in general.

I have a blog that I started the other day. Not soley dedicated to geocaching but has some things about it. Any thoughts and comments would be welcome.

I really like the adventuresingeocaching blog.

I was writing a blog, can link on it thru my profile.

Didn't get any feedback so I've gotten behind on it.

Interesting. I started a blog when this thread first popped up, but haven't really written much, yet. I don't think that I'm really interested in feedback, that much.

My blog is just a place to babble about whatever's on my mind; mostly geocaching blah, but not exclusively so.

The purpose of my blog is to help others find the interesting caches and avoid wasting time on the dogs.

I'm hoping others can give me tips when I travel to other areas.

I'm glad to know that many of you have begun writing your own blogs! If you will all post your site links in this forum topic, I'll compile a list and make it a perm link on my blog site.

Its not quite a geocaching blog (yet) but I have photos of almost every cache I've done, along with statistics, in a database so that you can filter by cache type and container.

Date links to my photo journal, cache image links to the cache page at gc.com.

I wanted to let you all know that the ever growing list of geocaching blogs has been posted at

Adventures in Geocaching: Geocaching Blogs.

I will continue to add to this list, so please feel free to send me the URL for your geocaching blog.

Small Print:

Also, since the purpose for compiling this list is to read about people's adventures in geocaching, there were a few sites that were intentionally left off of this list since they appeared to be geocaching related websites without any frequently updated personal narratives or blogs. While these are still great looking sites and many contain wonderful photographs and interesting information (or peeing dogs), I didn't think they fit within the goal of this list. Please do not be offended if your site was not listed for this reason. I just want to list blog or blog-like sites of personal experiences in geocaching.

I like dogs.

I like them alot.  :D

And you wonder why people want to put you on an ignore list !!! :)

Great, just great. Now THIS thread is going to get shut down! :D

But to stay on topic, I've added another site to this list that can be found by visiting Adventures in Geocaching: Geocaching Blogs. Keep them coming!

Though mine isn't solely about caching, I do have several caching-related entries in my blog...

Planetary Verbosity

Category links are in the sidebar on the right...if you click on the "geocaching" category, it'll show just the caching-related entries. (Why yes, I do have a thing for stating the obvious...thanks for noticing! :D )

I've only just begun putting geocaching information on my fieldnotebook site, though I plan more. I think I started my personal websites just so I'd have something else to feel guilty about not doing. You can never have too many of those, eh?

After a suggestion from another Geocaching Blogger, I've revised the way the listings are displayed which improves the appearance quite a bit.

So please keep the blog URLs and comments coming! Thanks!
