Gas Prices??

Recommended Posts

Just filled up will the required premium at $2.35 a gallon. That's why I'm riding the motorcycle more.

Who's gonna take the wagers of gas prices dropping come fall to reduce the chances of too many people buying more fuel efficient vehicles? OPEC does the pricing yo-yo game to keep the US from building too many refinerys and drilling for our own oil. It keeps the demand up.

Me, I flip'em the finger and jump on my bike. It's more fun to ride anyway.

Gas prices have been like Wal-Marts so called prices. Falling! Here's the day by day run down in southwest VA. Wednesday 2.24, Thursday 2.19, Friday 2.11, Saturday 2.09 and Sunday 2.05. I hope they keep falling, I work in sales on the road and 3,000 miles a month for work alone definitely lightens the wallet.

My Suburban has a 45 gallon tank and was getting 4 mpg - you do the math!

I took it to a carbuerator specialist who rebuilt the carbuerator with smaller jets, tuned it up and increased mileage to 14 mpg - a huge gain.

If you are driving an older car, especially a carbuerated SUV, check with a local mechanic about reducing the fuel jets!

On another note, earlier tonight my daughter watched a movie named "The Hot Chick", filmed in '02, and I noticed that the opening scene was in a gas station - the sign listed Regular Unleaded at $2.69 and Premium at $2.89 - I paid $2.19 today.

OPEC has enormous reserves, but relatively low production compared to those reserves. I think OPEC only produces somewhere around 40% of the world's oil. The US produces about 50% of its own needs, so OPEC may only be 20-25% of US consumption.

The trend is, however, in favour of OPEC: US reserves are only a small fraction of the world's total, so the US will depend increasingly on imported oil in the future. As long as this is priced in dollars, US consumers at least won't have to worry about the exchange rate. If the Chinese Yuan is the dominant world currency in 40 years time, however...
