StanB
Has anyone been successful in linking an external antenna to a GPS that does not have an external antenna connection? I have a Garmin eTrex Vista which works very well on the dash of my car, but it would be nice if my wife could hold it her hands while navigating. I'm thinking of something like a loop or coil of wire taped to the GPS, alligned with the internal antenna and leading to something on the dash or windshield. (Can you say capacitance coupling, or inductive resonance....?) StanB Quote Link to comment
+CompuCash
yes there is such a device - do a search here and in the GPS forum and maybe the geocach forum too - I recall seeing a discussion and links to same here a while back. cc Quote Link to comment
+IVxIV
Yeah it's called a re-radiating antenna or something like that Quote Link to comment
peter
Yes, there are a variety of re-radiating antennas available. The one at PC-Mobile: http://www.pc-mobile.net/gpsant.htm is battery-powered so you can use it both in a car and while hiking/biking/etc. Quote Link to comment
StanB
Thanks, that's what I was looking for. Just a little more than I wanted to spend, but I'll think about it..... StanB Quote Link to comment
