+Thomas&Lisa
On both 19. and 20. of March the small "d"'s appeared on my Garmin GPSmap 60C. Also the estimated position error showed down to +/- 1m. Have other Garmin owners seen the same? Regards Thomas, Denmark Edited March 20, 2005 by TPN&Lisa Quote Link to comment
Maxxy
I was finding some cache places in saturday 26. of march and first time my GPS shows +/- 2 meters! I didn't notice "small d", because I was so busy. However, in the cache place it shows +/- 10 meters. edit: I have also 60C. Edited March 27, 2005 by Maxxy Quote Link to comment
p&k+a
On satellite status page the two last satellite positions are reserved for WAAS/EGNOS/MTSAT satellites (if the feature is enabled). If you're recieving from satellite #44 (IOR), I believe its the ESTB (Egnos Sysem Test Bed). The final Egnos signal should be on satellites #33 (AOR-E), #37 (Artemis) and #39 (IOR-W). At least the ESTB signal can be recieved if there's little masking trees etc. over the southern horizon (these satellites are geostationary, over lat 0). Egnos should be available soon and become "official" (certified for critical use) later, so maybe it's already transmitting? You should look at the FAQ for the planned schedule. +Thomas&Lisa
For the moment EGNOS is in operation in a test mode. Garmin receivers in the 60/76 series has so far ignores the EGNOS correction when in testmode. In January EGNOS information centre told me, that EGNOS would be in full operation i Q2 2005. Therefore I was surprised last week, when my 60C showed EGNOS corrections. It seems, that explanation lies in the latest software update 3.7. There has been made some modifications in the way it receives EGNOS/WAAS corrections, including that it now ignores the test mode. The problem with the ESA/EGNOS homepages are, that the information is very limited and not updated very often. Thomas Quote Link to comment
