+ElectroQTed Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I was checking out the ammo boxes at the Princess Auto in Kitchener and they are in pretty rough shape compared to what I've seen hidden in the bush. I don't mind some rust and dirt, because I'd want to clean and repaint anyways, but the ones I checked were bent up and took a lot of effort to open and/or close. Still waiting for a good one... +Gorak Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 What ElectroQTed said. Princess Auto has these in their flyer once or twice every year. Both times I ventured down to their store to check them out the ammo cans were in such bad shape that I didn't bother to buy any. Most are dented, have broken seals, broken latches and/or rusty. You might get lucky if you get there early but go with relatively low expectations. Quote
+rjo Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 For those of you who go to the sportsman show in Toronto there is sometimes a guy there who sells them. I work down there, and as I've done on here in years past I will let you know if he is carrying any this year Quote

bigmuddy Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 just picked one up this morning. out of half a dozen on the shelf, i got the only decent one. like others said, most of them were rusty, had damaged seal, or didn't close properly. S Quote
+MaisOui & Avrohead Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Just FYI. The Hamilton store has none of the size in the catalogue. They do have some of the next size up (Regular 12.99) for 8.99. Of the 2 dozen or so available when we went in today, it did look like some of them were in pretty good shape, even the seals, but they were a little large for our purposes. MaisOui :0) Quote
Marmacette Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Hello, I just ordered one by telephone and I was confirmed that it would be in perfect condition... so i'll update you when i'll receive it ! Marmacette Quote
+rjo Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I took a break from work down at the sportsman show today (ok honestly I didn't do an ounce of work) I checked out Angie's Outdoor and a few other places... Great to see someone in the sportsman show with geocaching gear. Just FYI as well, Radioworld has some great specials on GPSrs... Might wanna check it out! Lots of great stuff to see! If anyone sees camo duct tape in their travels at the show please let me know Quote
+Amazon Annie Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I was in the Stoney Creek store and they have a whole load of ammo cans. I picked up a couple of them - they have some that aren't in too bad shape. Now I need to find somewhere to put them! Quote
+vmaxxblue Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Checked out the Ottawa store today. There was a big pile of them. They didn't appear to be crushed or dented, just looked like dirty, rusty junk. Didn't feel like getting my hands dirty to check the seals and latches. Quote
+Algonquin Bound Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Annie! I'm sure you'll be innundated with "ideas" of "where to put them"! Quote
+Hard Oiler Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Now I need to find somewhere to put them! Just attach travel bug tags and make them travelling caches - oops no, can't do that any more.... Quote
+murfster Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 The BARRIE store has a big pile ..a bit dirty and rusty but no dents and the seals seem OK. Picked up a couple. Murfster Quote
+GPSVixen Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Picked up two in Edmonton, they have tons, but lots of rust on them too. Vixie Quote
