Guest Guppy
When a waypoint is given, say "GC911", how does that work? Where do I put that information? What do I get from it? Guppy the newbie Quote Link to comment
Guest cache_ninja
i think it says "what's this" next to the waypoint listing on the url for each cache, click on it-it explains.... c/n Quote Link to comment
Guest makaio
Jeremy implemented a cache naming convention of "GCnnn" where nnn is a hexidecimal value for a particular cache. This is simply a name one can use to enter in their respective GPS unit. Being that many older units only accepted up to 5 character names, the syntax GC (geocache) and 3 hex characters (allowing up to 65,000 or so entries) was the chosen method. You can name your entries anything you like. Quote Link to comment
Guest Guppy
"GC911", how does that work? Where do I put that information? What do I get from it? From reading the waypoints given for different caches, I think I thought that if you put the name "GCwhatever" it might input the coords automatically. Guess not huh? It certainly would take less time. Quote Link to comment
