okay, the NJ Devil scares me! we both love that kind of stuff. I can't think of any to improve it.

How about something like the friendly looking NJ Devils that WNJ uses. We don't have to copy it, but I'm sure the artists among us can come up with something.

Examples:

Well this one isn't so friendly:

While researching what to put on the geocoin I came across this, can anyone relate? ;)

You know that the only people who call it "Joisey" are from New York or Texas.

You don't think of citrus when people mention "The Oranges."

You know that it's called "Great Adventure," not "Six Flags."

You've ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.

You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.

You've eaten at a diner at 3 am.

At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and you know what town Jon Bon Jovi is from.

You know what a "jug handle" is.

You know that a Krausers is a convenience store.

You know that there are no "beaches" in new Jersey-- there's "The Shore," and you know that the road to the shore is "The Parkway" not "The Garden State Highway."

You know that "Piney" isn't referring to a tree.

Even your school cafeteria made good Italian subs, and, you call it a "sub" not a "submarine sandwich" or worse yet, a "hoagy" or a "hero."

You remember the song from the Palisades Park commercials.

You know how to properly negotiate a Circle.

You knew that the last question had to do with driving.

You know that "Acme" is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros creation.

You know that this is the only "New..." state that doesn't require "New" to identify it (like, try ...Mexico, ...York, ...Hampshire (doesn't work, does it?).

You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it "The City."

You don't think "What exit" (do you live near?) is very funny.

You know that the real first "strip shopping center" in the country is on Route 22.

You know that people from 609 area code are "a little different."

You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton — that's for out-of-staters.

The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.

You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.

You know where every "clip" shown in the Sopranos opening credits is.

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of Willowbrook Mall.

You've eaten a Boardwalk cheesesteak with vinegar fries.

You have a favorite Atlantic City casino.

You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.

And finally...

You've never pumped your own gas.

:D

We could probably do without the 'X' and the 666. Other than that they look awesome! Which means I have to get my butt in gear ... !  :D  ;)

Edit: without, not withou

LOL Don't worry the 666 will not be on the final coin. It was just put there to show the space where each coin number would be located. Or we may put the secret cache coords on that spot. We are still undecided. The X marks the spot where the NJ Devil originated from down in the Pine Barrens. Not to worry there will be no devil worshiping symbols on the coin. :D

My wife is from Cape Cod. She pumped her own gas her whole life. Now when we go back to visit her family, she will sit and honk the horn hoping someone will get their butt out there and fill the tank. She's converted to that much at least.

EDIT: Can I still place an order for a few Geocoins? That design looks awesome. Great design job.

I would like to buy 2 of them also, when do you think you will be taking pre-orders?

Pepper

The next step of this project is pricing and production. We have begun this step and we will we keep you all posted with the details. No pre-orders yet simply b/c we still have to decide on a manufacturer, price, and quantity. So there is still alot of work to be done yet. However let us know if you are interested in purchasing them so we can figure a good amount to order. Thanks

Here are some more... I can relate to most of them

You've been seriously injured at Action Park (probably on the Alpine Slide).

You know that a "White Castle" is the name of both a fast food chain and a fast food sandwich.

You don't understand why there aren't more 24-hour diners elsewhere in the country.

Your car is covered with yellow-green dust in April and May.

You know what skeeball is and you can get three 50's in a row.

You've run out of money on the Parkway.

You can't believe MTV went to Seaside Heights.

You have mandatory recycling. Enforced by law.

One time, a sea gull crapped on your head.

You've planned a local trip around ensuring you pass at least one Dunkin' Donuts.

You know where Jimmy Hoffa is buried.

You long for the days when the Devils wore Christmas colors.

You know that the structural integrity of the Great Adventure Log Flume ride is completely dependent on the fusion of millions of wads of chewed bubble gum.

You know what jetties are.

The people you fear on the road the most are the State Police.

You realize that out-of-staters don't know what pork roll is (and for that matter, don't like it).

You've gone to at least one place in the Weird New Jersey magazine.

These are the two coins so far for the Jersey Coin Series.

I like it. Just one question? What birds are those supposed to be? They look more like Flamingos than Canada Geese to me (check the feet).

Either way, I'll take a bunch. Phragmites - has anybody from outside the Meadowlands even head of them?

Cool

They are actual geese, I swear. They dont tuck their feet into their posteriors. They just hang out. I tried many birds and in different positions. This seemed to work the best.

The only thing really missing is the honking sound and the fields full of goose droppings. :D

Thanks for your input though. All comments are welcome.

I will be making some designs in the coming months for the Shore and the Pine Barrens. There is no rush though due to the wait and see approach we are using for the first two coins.

I also got one more to add the list above.

"The Jersey Shuffle!" Its when you make a right turn from the left lane, crossing three lanes of dense traffic.

Blinkers only allow the people in the next lane to box you out! You have to do the patented turn WITH blinker activation! ;)

OK instead of geese why don't we just say they're egrets or cormorants. Both birds' feet come past their tails when they fly. Plus both birds frequent the meadowlands especially in the summer. So there they are no longer geese they are cormorants!!!! Then again they don't really look like egrets either!!! The neck would have to be arched back during flight. B)

I would like to have a couple of them, please & thanks.

The feet on geese are extended post takeoff and prelanding. Even when extended, they don't exceed the length of the tail. During full flight, the feet are retracted into the belly feathers.  Link to a couple sample photos.

I got it! They were mutated in the late 90's due to the local refineries and power plants in the waters nearby. They have had enough of the torturous local bird watchers pointing and laughing at them. They no longer wish to be exploited for their differences and wish to fly away to distant shores in hopes of finding some place of acceptance!

Serously though, I know the bird watchers are offended by my lack of scientific research but atleast the coin looks good. If I continue to see posts of those offended by my long legged geese or whatever they are then I will go back and take off the legs to make things better. Its a collage of sorts for each area. Not meant to be taken too literal.

Thanks,

Mike B)

Now THAT I will accept. :(

Anyway, I still like it. Anything to promote the "tickfest marsh" area in which I live B)
