Autorouting With Cityselect Or Metroguide

I own a Garmin 76cs and from what I understand Metroguide Canada v.4 has much more detail and many more points of interest then City Select NA v.6.

From what I also understand is that Metroguide Canada v.4 does not support auotrouting on the GPS itself. Only if you download the autorouted information from your PC to your GPS. But City Select NA v.6 you can autoroute right from your GPS.

Is this correct or am I mistaken?

MG Canada 4 and City Select operate exactly the same on your autorouting handheld except MG does not need any unlock codes in order to download to your GPSR. This plus the almost 100% coverage of Canada was the reason MG Can.4 became so popular. Previous versions of CS only detailed some major Canadian cities and very little in the way of rural roads or topographical features. Although I have not upgraded as yet to CS 6 I understand it is a vast improvement over earlier editions and includes all of Canada plus the entire U.S. I would hazard a guess that Garmin will do as they did in the States which was to eliminate the autorouting in any new MG releases and leave the autorouting needs with City Select only, or City Navigator for higher end units.

I have had the same questions regarding the different software. It is my understanding that the MetroGuide Canada V4 does offer auto routing, unlike the US version, MetroGuide North America. I have found that MetroGuide Canada and City Select North America are very close on many fronts. Here are a couple of links that may help you decide.

Hope this helps.
