StanB
Reading many posts in the forums I notice almost everybody uses a "handle" instead of their real name. Why, is there something secretive going on that I don't understand? Stan..... er, BarnacleScraper Link to comment

JohnX
Some of us are members of elite paramilitary sleeper cells waiting for the signal from High Command to start the battle for world domination. The Walmart Corporation is merely a front for our organization. Why do you think there are so many posts about Walmart lamp post micros? . Geocaching is merely a cover. Link to comment
+reveritt
Reading many posts in the forums ... Well, you probably also noticed that many of them are mentally disturbed. Do you really want those folks knowing your name? Link to comment
WH
Ive probably ticked enough people off in here that Id be fearful of my life if they knew who I REALLY was. Link to comment
D2Cacher
Some of us are in the Federal Witness Protection Program. We use caches to send messages to our handlers. This month's secret sign is "It's past midnight and we've lost the glass slipper." In all seriousness tho, we had a thread on our local forum addressing the same issue. Since people place and find caches under their caching handles, that's how they've come to be known. Even during our group hikes or monthly breakfasts people have a tendency to address each other by their caching names. Link to comment
+sbell111
I guess for alot of reasons. For one thing, there's probably more than one John Smith playing the game. For many people, they use whatever 'handle' they've used for years online. Others use nicknames that they have had forever. Some of us use some varient of our name, we're probably just not very original. There have been a few threads on why people use the nicks that they've chosen. A search will turn them up for some interesting reading. Link to comment

+briansnat
I am my real name...sort of. The full name is too long and hard to pronounce. Which reminds me. What does a Polish girl get on her wedding night that's long and hard? A last name. Link to comment
