arvensis
Hi all, I'm just wondering what the Battery Life would be if using rechargable Ni-MH batteries for a Gecko 201. Thanks, Arvensis Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Not long. One bad thing about the Geko is its notoriously poor battery life. They eat batteries like potato chips. You'd be lucky to get 6-8 hours out of rechargables. Quote Link to comment
arvensis
Thanks for the quick answer, that rules the Gecko out! Now its between the Etrex vista or legend- depending on how long it takes me to get the cash together! Cheers, Arv Quote Link to comment

Cheers, Arv Its still a nice little unit, but if my choice was between a Geko and a Vista, or Legend, the Geko loses. Quote Link to comment
+WalruZ
6-8 hours is about right for rechargables in a geko. I use a 301 and I always carry a spare pair of charged batteries in a pants pocket and another pair in my fanny pack. I like the 301 because of it's form factor. It's very small and fits nicely in my pocket. It doesn't have maps, but I use mapopolis on my palm for mapping and I prefer that. The unit is also pretty rugged. Mine has served me well - I'll hit 2K caches with it sometime this spring. Quote Link to comment
