kph100 Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Im spending 2 days in Berlin in April with some colleagues for an ex colleagues retirement do. Wont have to much time for caching but would like to get a few.... any suggestions for quick caching in central Berlin would be appreciated. Thks Ian. Quote
klaus23 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I see this thread hasn't had a response yet. I know Berlin quite well, but that was before my geocaching days. If you could let me know where in the city you're staying, I could put a post in the German forums for you, and then translate what comes back? If that sounds like a plan, e-mail me through my profile. Klaus Quote
Firth of Forth Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 You could try emailing Roolku, who is German and is from Berlin, but lives in Edinburgh. I know that he was there at Xmas and tried some caches. He even set one there based on the Water of Leith cache trail in Edinburgh. I am sure that he would be happy to advise. Quote
-Phoenix- Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 What do you mean translate, I bet if you post in the German forum then they will ALL reply in pretty good English! The Germans are a hell of a lot better at learing foreign languages that we are! Quote
klaus23 Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) I was offering to facilitate, speaking fluent German. I was not being condescending. that we are They must be. That's not English Edited March 1, 2005 by klaus23 Quote
Pharisee Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 The last time I was in Berlin, the beautiful city still had a wall around it. The locals could tell you exactly how big it was 'wall to wall'; a bit like measuring up for a carpet If you get fed up with caching over there, there used to be a great place to spend an hour or two just off the Ku-dam called, if I remember correctly, The Beer Cellar, or the German equivalent thereof. It was an underground shopping arcade or 'mall' that was devoted entirely to bars. All along both side were drinking establishments; some big, some tiny... all different. Ahhh.... the memories come flooding back Quote
