princess toadstool Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 How do I add a link in a travel bug description to another travel bug or cache? Quote
fly46 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 HTML code. <a href="LINK HERE">name of link</a> Except, put the link in where it says LINK HERE and change where it says name of link to whatever you want. Quote
Ladybug Kids Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Fly46 is correct and here's an example of a pair of travel bug pages linked to each other: Mini-I Ladybug's Ladybug Travel Bug and Mini-V Ladybug's Ladybug Travel Bug. Mommy Ladybug's Ladybug Travel Bug has examples of a link to a cache page and to other travel bugs. The "LINK HERE" part in Fly46's post is the LONG url that the geocaching.com website assigns to each cache or travel bug page. It looks like this: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=6f82aff2-26d0-4573-b75d-a7fce5416eea, and you have to copy it from the address line in your browser into the html statement provided by Fly 46. +princess toadstool Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 (edited) Thanks! It worked great .. see Samuel's Ride Edited February 27, 2005 by princess toadstool Quote
TFTC Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 (edited) Thanks! It worked great .. see Samuel's Ride Unfortunately, you used the wrong link (edit.aspx only works for owners!) for Happy Jack's Chopper - you need to use details.aspx! Also note you can use the TB reference number in the URL, like this: Version for logs: Samuel's Ride Version for pages: <A HREF="http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TBHB43">Samuel's Ride</A> On edit - actually, it works fine on the Samuel's Ride link on Happy Jack's page - just not on the Happy Jack's link on Samuel's Ride page. I looked at Happy Jack's Chopper and I don't see the incorrect link. Here's what is says <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=106025">Samuel's Ride<a/a> Can anyone clarify? Quote
Ladybug Kids Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Ahimsa's right...the url in the link TO Happy Jack's Chopper on the Samuel's Ride TB page needs to have 'edit' changed to 'details'. When I click on the Happy Jack's Chopper link, I get this error message: "You do not have permission to edit this Travel Bug." I manually changed 'edit' to 'details' in the url of my browser and went straight to Happy Jack's Chopper. The link FROM Happy Jack's Choppper back to Samuel's Ride is correct. Thanks, ahimsa, for the additional info! I learned something today, too. Quote
