Entering the time on the GPS315

I noticed the Magellan GPS315 lets you enter the local time down to the minute. I thought it was getting the exact time from the satellites and you just have to tweak the hours? And comparing the seconds diplayed on the 315 vs an etrex, they are different by 1/2 second or so. I would think they would both display the exact time they are getting from the satellites? Setting it to 4:30 when it's really 5:00 doesn't SEEM to affect the unit's accuracy, but anyone else have a thought?
