How do I add a picture (or 2) to my first cache description?

I don't think that you can add your pictures WHEN you are submitting your cache description, but you can go back and add them later. To do this, go to the cache's page and look at the top right corner of the screen. You will see five options:

log your visit

watch this cache

edit this cache

upload images

archive this cache

Select "upload images" and from there on, it is pretty much like adding pictures to a log.

and type real slow for those of us that are somewhat computer-challenged? I want to add a picture to the title of a cache and another at the bottom in the text. I have the pictures on disk right now. These are clipart-type pictures, not photos if that makes a difference. For the title, I'd like to have the picture beside the title. Would it be easier to just make the title and picture one whole image and insert that? TIA

You can't put an image in your title, but you can put it in the description...

=================

First, they have to be in either JPG or GIF format. If the clipart isn't, this won't work. They also have to be less than 100K (clipart should be). Also, make sure that the image is of a reasonable size on screen at full magnification (not a "wallpaper" image).

Next, when you're logged in to the site, go to your cache page and click "Upload Pictures". You will be prompted to name the file and then "Browse" to find the file on the disk (or hard drive). Then click "upload." This will grind for a while depending on the size of the image and the speed that you're connected.

Once it's done, you can go back to the cache page. At the bottom of the description of the cache is a link for the file that you just uploaded. Click it. The website address will look like

http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/29557_200.gif

with the numbers being different.

THEN, edit your cache and at the point that you want the image to be inserted, type

<img align=left src=http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/29557_200.gif>

(match your numbers)

That will make the image appear in the text on the left side of the page, and the text will wrap around it. If you want it to appear on the right side and wrap, say: align=right.

Then click "modify the cache" and review it.

...and then (to add to Maxwell's great instructions) you can go to your cache page and [Delete] that image. That's right, I said delete it. The picture will still show up on the cache page, but the unnecessary link at the bottom will be gone.

Last I knew, the [Delete] only removed the link from the page, and not the file from the drive.

Thanks a bunch! A couple more quick questions. The picture is a little bigger than I'd like. Is it possible to resize it, pre- or post-uploading? Also does anyone know offhand the html code for paragraph breaks? I will look it up later if need be but if anyone knows it off the top of their head, I'd appreciate it. I've been jealous of all the professional looking cache pages and wanted to polish up my first and make my uncoming ones a little more presentable.

Jamie Z, you answered one of the questions I came here to ask. I looked at other cache pages with pictures in the descriptions and noticed they didn't have the image listed at the bottom. I almost deleted it right then but didn't want to have to upload it again. I'll go take care of it now. Thanks!

For paragraph breaks, use

. There is no end tag.

(in html use, the above sentence would look like this:)

You can also use

the same way, without the empty line.

Regarding resizing. Um... I don't know if GC.com resizes the image automatically, I'd guess it doesn't, but there are html tags for image size, too.. but I'm not familiar.

You can always resize the image in virtually any paint or photo shop program.. .or in the FREE Irfanview, and then re-upload it.
