+PDOP's
Do you have a PDA? The HotSync program may be grabbing the com port at startup so your GPS can't use it. Try disabling your sync program and see if it helps. Quote Link to comment
cad-guy
no I'm not using a pda. I have 2 ports on the back of the computer, but just one shows up in control panel. Is there a way to activate them? Thanks Quote Link to comment
+Seay me
Are you familiar with the bios at all? Sometimes there are options to enable/disable serial port and or com ports. Quote Link to comment
+reepicheep
Common problem if you boot with the GPSr connected. Check this thread out. Look for the /NoSerialMouse option. Kenneth Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
You can have many virtual serial ports even if you have only one physical port. Device Manager (mangler!!) will help you sort them out. This is a generic error message, and can be caused by the GPS not being turned on, by a bad physical connection, using the wrong port, or several other things. Try telling GSAK to use another com port, perhaps 3. 1 & 3 are the same physical port, as are 2 & 4. If you have 2 physical serial ports, you have to know which physical and which virtual port you're connected to. Edited February 11, 2005 by NightPilot Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
I forgot to mention that having your Garmin set to something other than Garmin protocol, such as NMEA in/out, will also give this error. Make sure your Legend is set to Garmin for transferring waypoints, and to NMEA in/out for talking to other programs. Quote Link to comment
