Team Ullium Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 This idea has been on the cards since before Christmas and it is now finally up and approved here The event will take place on Saturday the 2nd and 3rd of April, so there is plenty of time to book up accommodation on the beautiful Scottish island of Bute which has enough caches to keep even the best of us happilly busy for two days Everyone is welcome and if they need any further information I can always be contacted by my profile email Team Ullium. +Firth of Forth Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 The 'Edinburgh Cache Gang' will be in attendance. This is going to be a brilliant weekend away. Fantastic scenery, great caches, two consecutive days of caching, great company....what more could you ask for? Oh the weather...well we shall just have to order up a sunny weekend; it has been know to happen! Quote
Team Hippo Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I won't be able to make the event in April, but have had my eye on the Bute caches for my next visit north of the border hopefully later in the year. What's the best time to avoid the midges? Quote
Papakas Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Just registered my intention to attend! However, whatever you do please, please, don't tell anyone it's my birthday on 3rd Apr!! Quote
Billy Twigger Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 What's the best time to avoid the midges? Probably around lunchtime. Quote
Firth of Forth Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Only two weeks to go! Get organised now! So far, about 20 cachers are due to attend. Quote
Flyfishermanbob Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Do they have electricity on Bute ? What about phones ? Can you get mobile coverage? I've heard there is a problem with Pumas ....is it safe ? Quote
Haggis Hunter Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Only a week left to go For anyone who wishes to download all of the caches that are on Bute, you can do so with this bookmark list which I have created, you can view it here Also to save you the time of navigating the ferry web site, I have also got the timetables - Colintraive - Rhubodach Wemyss Bay - Rothesay Quote
Geoki Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Good luck to all you lucky folk making a break for the west this weekend. We would have loved to have come to this or the one at Ratho but family circumstances at this moment in time don't permit it. Hey ho never mind we hope to be able to join in at one of these weekend meets soon. Can't wait to read the write up at a later date and going by past 'dos' the photos add to it all. Quote
Firth of Forth Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 On a lighter note, a write up of the Scottish Geocachers' Weekend Event on the Isle of Bute is now available at www.geocachingtoday.com here. Quote
