Whats Your Fav. Tb

I think my fave would have to be Mighty Hercules, mostly because of the story behind how I got it.

I started off going to find MH in a cache not far from where my dad works, but when I got there someone had already taken it, so I just moved on to the next cache. SIgned the log, traded and took off to cache number three. I found the cache, unscrewed the top, lo-and-behold there was Mighty Hercules. It turns out that the cacher who took MH out of the first cache had placed it in a cache in a nearby canyon. Just minutes later aonther cacher had taken MH out of that cache and put it in the cache I was going to. It's like Mighty Hercules wanted me to find him.

My favorite is "US NAVY Toilet Handle Travel Bug" because after I handed it off to my sister-in-law "Zule" in Ohio she got busted in airport security trying to explain why a toilet handle with a "dog tag" was in her luggage heading to Vegas ;)

About busted a gut watching her trying so spin her way out of that :D

Well, my favorite of the ones I own is Austin's Joke Book. This is a really ordinary yellow Rite in the Rain notebook that I released almost 2 years ago in California. Its goal is to reach my nephew Austin in Missouri, collecting kid-appropriate jokes on the way. In the time since this travel bug began its journeys, Austin has gone through a lot, including his parents divorce and remarriages, new stepsiblings, and he started school and learned to read! That last bit is very important, because it means he'll be able to read the bug when it gets to him.

My mother, who I introduced to geocaching in 2003 and who lives near my nephew, has been eagerly watching this bug as well; she gets excited every time it gets 50 feet closer to her house.

According to the latest log, it has 6 blank pages left and is going to Florida before heading back towards Iowa.

What's special about this bug is that it's travelled so far to get to my nephew, and in the process has spread a lot of humor on the way. As of its last pickup, it had travelled 5,860 miles. Also, Austin does not know that this travel bug exists. He knows about geocaching-- it's something that his grandma and aunt do. But I wanted the travel bug to be a surprise, in part because I didn't want to get his hopes up in case anything happened to it on the way.

Judging by a recent picture posted to the log page, it also looks like the joke book has picked up a hitchhiker tag. Which is totally cool.

Mom and I are excited about its imminent arrival, and look forward to helping Austin put together a Show and Tell presentation after it arrives.

My favorites? All of mine, of course. Like ideas and children, there are none more wonderful than your own. As to ones I have stumbled across in my wanderings, I enjoyed my travels escorting The Jack Report around to the major news outlets in NYC. I also enjoyed la Clef d'Hormel if only for the reason that I find myself using the term "wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot bargepole" with greater frequency in daily conversation.

Hooray! That one's mine. It was my very first travel bug, and I lit on it by wandering around the house looking for something interesting but not heartbreaking to part with.

I remember you. You're the one with the Starbursts and RC Cola. Mmmm...how's your dental hygeine?
