+Skyman
I was watching this cache and the log just came in and I was wanting to be the FTF and have the Benchmark on my wall. Well Duurrnn Cone_Z I hope Quote Link to comment
+sTeamTraen
What a modest log for such an amazing find ! My log would have been two pages long and full of smileys and other carp. Quote Link to comment

+stu_and_sarah
I just commented to Sarah this morning... "You know how sometimes you add a cache to your watchlist which is in the middle of the desert, or in a volcano, and you never really expect to see a log... well, guess what?" You're right about the modest log! I couldn't actually tell is was one of those really hard caches until I noticed "Location: Antarctica". Good stuff! Stu Edit: Haha... I have to add - I love the cache ratings: No phone, no restrooms, not wheel chair accessible. Buy hey - at least there aren't any poison plants there! +cache_test_dummies
And the person who logged it? Its their only find. They should probably go do some guardrail micros now to kind of balance out their portfolio. Haha... I have to add - I love the cache ratings: No phone, no restrooms, not wheel chair accessible. Buy hey - at least there aren't any poison plants there! Yeah, that is funny! Probably no poisonous snakes there, either! Quote Link to comment
+BlueGerbil
I´d like to see some photos of prrof from the visitor... perhaps it just me, but I´m a bit sceptical! Quote Link to comment
uperdooper
I´d like to see some photos of prrof from the visitor... perhaps it just me, but I´m a bit sceptical! some of the workers at the station there are leaving, so it's very possible that some of the new ones replacing them are cachers. i think the cache was placed using a helicopter to get there. it's most likely a legit find. +PeachyPA
I think Mac needs to go back and check this log before he leaves Antarctica. There are 62 folks watching this cache page. Mac even has the camping icon on the cache page! How awesome to log this 5/5 cache! Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
... and other carp. Please, no fish in the cache. They tend to smell . Seriously, though - that's a great cache to find and what a prize to boot! That's definitely a keepsake worth showing off. Quote Link to comment
+ironman114
There is no mention of the FTF as having taken the FTF prize. Maybe it is still there! Quote Link to comment
+McMurdo1
Nope the FTF prize has been lifted... And yes this is a legitimate find..... This is his first find ever. He had never even heard of geocaching until he met with another first time down Comms Tech. I was a little worried when I saw the helicopter schedule was leaving them at the site for 8 hours and I knew the work would not take them three hours. I guess I should have hidden it even better! Maybe I'll add another benchmark replica from 2005 next year. Would a second to find like that? The placement was for my enjoyment and for others to have a dream of getting there. I won't fault Penguin1's going and finding it. I think I would have done the same thing if I were in his shoes. I just hope he goes on and does more geocaching in the future and learns just what a prize he got. Thanks everybody for enjoying the cache with me. I will be hoping to see a few more logs in the future.. Mac edit spelling Edited February 2, 2005 by McMurdo1 Quote Link to comment
+DiskDevil
That cache is so cool, just reading about it lowers the temp in my house 10 degrees!! I would even say that I would like to purchase one of those if you can? Quote Link to comment
+1NatureMom
Someone else logged a find, and posted incredible photos! I'll just sit back here with my moose blanket, crackling fire, warm coffee, and just watch. Have a Warm day! Leslie Quote Link to comment
+stu_and_sarah
The strangest thing I see in the logs is that the first finder added stuff, and the second finder found it emptied out. Does that mean it was muggled in between? Stu Quote Link to comment

+Jamie Z
How awesome to log this 5/5 cache! Based on the cache page, the logs, and the photographs, I'd have to say it's not really 5-star difficulty, as the cache doesn't seem to be hidden in any especially devious manner. But that's just me. Still a cool place cache. Jamie Quote Link to comment

+The Leprechauns
June 18 by Jamie Z Began the hunt for this one on February 12. Arrived to find the cache in good condition but largely empty, as noted by the prior finder. Major muggle problems in this open, exposed area. I miss the days when you had to go into the woods to find a geocache. I took nothing and left a travel bug I've been holding onto since sometime in 2003. Well, time to get on the bike and ride back home. Thanks for the cache. Quote Link to comment

But that's just me. I have to agree, actually. Like a cache on the top of Sagarmatha/Chomolungma/Everest in plain view. That'd be a 5* terrain, but still only 1* difficulty. It's a tough call, I guess, because it's so out there, it doesn't deserve a 1*. Maybe the extra ratings in difficulty make up for the extra stars it can't have in the terrain rating? Given the accesibility of some 5* caches, this should be 10/1 so 5/5 evens out nicely. We placed a 5/5 cache, which many have complained about the rating on, but it a) requires special equipment and requires specialist knowledge and maybe many trips to find. This is MUCH harder to get to, though. Just my rambling thoughts. Cheers, Stu Quote Link to comment

Stu, in my opinion, it would take special equipment - the helicopter; and special knowledge, otherwise why would the chopper pilot take you to the radio receiving station, or why even be in the Antarctic, in the first place? I don't think this is a joy ride! Edited February 11, 2005 by PeachyPA Quote Link to comment
