+TresOkies Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 (edited) It seems as though a lot of folks are jumping on board with this idea and aren't going to post that week.Let me be the first to say that I definitely won't be participating in this experiment. I will continue to post when and where I want. As long as I follow the rules of the forums, no one can tell me not to post. What Richard said. Me too. But maybe I'm not a "regular" (my finds to posts ratio is way too low) Edit: add a few smileys for the humor impaired. Edited January 21, 2005 by TresOkies++
+clearpath Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Oh yeah and, I don't need to stop drinking for a week to prove to myself I can do it. Well, I quit drinking for a year (March 1st is the anniversary). I wanted to prove that I could after 27 years of alcohol abuse. I wanted to see what its like to be 'normal'. Let me tell you ... 'normal' ain't all its cracked up to be.
+Torry Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Man, some folks have so little to truly worry about ... I used to visit other fora but never found one that wasn't either filled with filthy-mouthed teeny-boppers or filthy-minded adults. I was geocaching for a year before I even looked at the Groundspeak forums. I've found this place to be the best-monitored and most enjoyable site I've experimiented. No porn, no profanity, no nasty personal attacks replete with name-calling. (C'mon now, if you've never been told "Shut up you ****in' noob" then you haven't really been on the web much. I like it here. I use my real name here. I'll just keep on visiting and posting as I please. Thank you, now I'm gonna head on back to the bar.
+TotemLake Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Yah me too. And wine. And the hard stuff too. Oh yeah and, I don't need to stop drinking for a week to prove to myself I can do it. Ummmm... it wasn't about proving if you can do it or not. It was merely a challenge to do it to see what would happen to the forums. The bets merely started flying that some couldn't keep out for the entire week.
+carleenp Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 (edited) sea dragon, Nobody is getting banned for this experiment and it is totally voluntary and I agree that I don't see it making a difference. Quite honestly I would like to see the "regulars" start if they're going to start instead of continuing to talk about it here. That's why they're regulars because they can't even stop posting when talking about stopping posting. Who, me???? Edit: To add a comma, because I am just like that..... I was just making a point based on prior conserns. No worries. It's the "regular" thin that I was getting at. But, as I said, no worries.
Pipanella Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I can't do it. See? I even had to post THAT twice, just in case no one heard me the first time.

+Camo-crazed Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I like beer. I like it alot. That reminded me of the dead monkeys post (I forget who said it) By the way don't try to set fire to it or flush it down the toilet LOL
Pantalaimon Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 I predict that if the groudhog sees his shadow, there will be a sharp rise in the number of sock puppet accounts around here. Or, if he doesn't see his shadow. Either way really. Get out that tracking program. Maybe this really will result in people getting banned.
+robert Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 I am at a monster .08. I lurk all the time. Just starting to have a voice. post whore.
+robert Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 uper, are you kidding? I didn't see the above as a personal attack on you but a joke and making light of heavy posting. No biggie. Those are my thoughts, not yours....... i guess i don't appreciate his type of humor. Guess it was this quote that made the other poster say what they did: i will stop posting only when i am justly banned or they pry my mouse and keyboard out of my cold dead hands. guess he didn't know "cold dead hands" was a symptom of lupus... if it's not, it sounds more like an addiction than a disease/medical condition. i personally didn't see it as an attack either, merely a comment on your comment. then again i'm not you and i don't have lupus so don't understand nor empathize with the hostility you felt, therefore can't really say you shouldn't feel the way you did about the original post.
Jeremy Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Let's start a short test to see if the regulars can stop posting in this thread.

+woof n lulu Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Rocking the boat again RK? or should I say Rocking the Kayak The only thing I can see this experiment bringing about is while the regular posters stop posting, YES, others might post more. BUT, then when the time limit is lifted there will be twice as many regular posters. I think I'll pass, thanks.
2oldfarts (the rockhounders) Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I am bumping this up because I am wondering if this is really gonna happen yet? I did not post all of Saturday...does that count?? Course, We went out of town & we were busy caching & benching & did not worry about the forums one little bit. Did anyone miss me?
+Renegade Knight Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 Sure it's going to happen. If we get a few new regulars, thats not a bad thing.
+Renegade Knight Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 Is this voluntary ban 'on' yet then? Feb 1 - 7 inclusive.
+sept1c_tank Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 As much as I enjoy pointless debates, meaningless games and ridiculous scenarios, I will not voluntarily participate in this experiment. Unless, of course, not participating is deemed to be a part of the experiment, in which case I will be participating.

Are we mice? .... the answer is 42 or 43 errr something like that. Shirley~

Unless, of course, not participating is deemed to be a part of the experiment, in which case I will be participating. Same. Although I will be involuntarily participating in a no post week from Feb 7 through Feb 12. Out of town looking for snow.
+Renegade Knight Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 I'm beginning to think we need a Regulars week that also runs Feb 1-7th. That way both groups can boycott participation in the other groups week.
+wimseyguy Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I didn't post last week while in Las Vegas. Heck I hardly even turned on the computer. Who needs this for entertainment with all that there is to see and do out there? I'll also be taking President's Weekend off if anyone really cares.
+leatherman Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Woo Hoo! I just raised my post per day count from 2.00 a day to 2.02!

+Sissy-n-CR Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Thanks! But I am afraid I would not be nearly as entertaining.
+Camo-crazed Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 But I will still lurk, just so I can see how the experiment works
+Divine Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 And the tally so far is.... (forgive me if I capitalize your user name wrong or mis-interpreted your post) Sorry, you misinterpreted. I said 'count me in' in reference to RichardMoore's post. So count me out.
2oldfarts (the rockhounders) Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I was just informed that I had to clarify my post....Half of the 2oldfarts is going to comply (meaning me) as to not posting in all of the forums except the OT forum/the other half (meaning him) will post however he sees appropriate. This is worse than politics!!!!!! Shirley~
2oldfarts (the rockhounders) Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 What? Don't I rate a listing? John
