+bone1977 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Anyone know any good caches off of 20 between Mississippi state line and Ashville? Going through the area next weekend and would like the help. Thanks, Bone1977 Quote
+drat19 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Suggest you join (free) and post to http://www.alacache.com, the Alabama Geocachers Assn. website. Great group of cachers over there who will provide you with whatever you need to know. -Dave R. in Biloxi, MS Quote

+joefrog Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 This will also be posted on Alacache.com if you visit: Center of town ZIP code for Birmingham is 35203, and there are plenty of caches in most areas of town. Your best bet is to get the ZIP near the area you are staying and go outward. Best cache in town is "The Bubbavinci Code" in my opinion, but plan on spending a good part of the day on it! For Tuscaloosa, the ZIP code is 35401 if I remember correctly. There are quite a few good caches along the way in town, on the University of Alabama campus (including a webcam cache and a few virtuals), and four or five near the campus that are well worth the stop and not too far off your path. Northward of town, there are stops at the rest area north and south, called "Home game" for southbound and "Away Game" for northbound travel. Headed just north of Tuscaloosa, plan a stop for the two "M-Class" caches, near the Mercedes plant and a few nearby. Once you head north of town, your next big stop will likely be McCalla area (search for "Hooky hooky hooky" for a base area), and north of there they really get thick. Good luck and have fun! Quote
