+mongoose39uk
On New Years eve some rather drunk youth decided to smash my rather old rather battered Astra estate to death. Luckily my boss allowed me to use his car for a while. Problem, no car. I mentioned this to another cacher "Fruity". Fruity made a call a few minutes later he said I may have something that will interest you. Next day we went to look at the car, it was fine, just what I wanted. Yesterday he drove the 20 miles to pick me up to go and collect the car. he then rang me later just to check that I had got back safely. All this from somone I had just met at a cachers meet. He expected nothing in return. Then at about 10pm last night Fruity and Rutson rang to tell me that they had found one of my caches in a very poor way. They have put the cache in a safe place for me. They could have just posted a note, but no they took it to somewhere safe and rang to let me know exactly where it is. A big Thank you from me lads! Link to comment
Jumbo Village
That strikes me as a good reason to start some sort of awards ceremony for services to Geocaching and Geocachers... Anybody else think that's a good idea? Link to comment

Yes, he's a top bloke that Fruity. Here's a picture of him and Rutson out caching after the pub meet last Saturday. - Edited January 12, 2005 by Slytherin Link to comment

+rutson
Oh dear, Brian's been at the happy juice and it's only 11am Anyway mongoose, we had to retrieve the cache, we couldn't find anywhere it'd keep still in that wind! Link to comment
+Team Maddie UK
Mongoose, Maybe this should be recommended to Inuk as a feature page in the Geocaching magazine. Nominees could be sent in and voted on each month. Stories of cachers doing good deeds would probably be welcomed. Just a thought. Lynn Link to comment

+rutson
Looks like it may have moved, first few finders mainly said easy. Last finder said tough, then three DNFs! Maybe the hides improved over time! Link to comment

But I had to laugh at this thanks go to these two genuine truly helpful guys true yorkies 'cos round my way this would be kinda offensive to call someone due to the links with the Rowntree's Yorkie advertising campaign, i.e. Not for Girls..... if you see what I mean.... Not intended to cause any offence, just tickled me.... Mike Link to comment

Luckily my boss allowed me to use his car for a while. I feel your pain. Last year some yob ripped my wing mirror off on NYE and left it dangling. It was a yob because the mirror that was broken was on the pavement side so it isn't as if someone could have driven into it. This year just after Christmas the car skidded on some ice into a hedge. Next year I don't think i am going to drive over the Christmas period. Dan Link to comment

The car was goosed anyway but instead of being able to fix it i ended up scraping it. Anyway my real point is that the contacts I have had with other cachers heve been very positive. Now I am closing this one before it dies of boredom Link to comment
