arbalo
hello to all ( ex ) soldiers, long time ago I found this: http://www.calle.com/info.cgi?lat=51.8500&...Germany&alt=488 unfortunatly the link is no longer valid, but probably some knows the old www.calle.com so near my home town STEINHEIM there is this point LOGE, but at the koords. there is nothing, it´s a nice place out in the nature with a small river, where you let your dog swim - but nothing more?! on the old www.calle.com the koords. were n 51,51,000 / e 009,04,600 but when you search here http://gnswww.nga.mil/geonames/GNS/index.jsp for LOGE you will get koords. 51,51,00 / 009,05,000 - just a small cunfkuenca, or more? could someone explain, what for the wp is interesting? any ideas? greetings from germany alex Quote Link to comment
+wolves shepherd
As near as I can tell, there is no military significance. Searching the site you referenced it explains Loge as a "Populated place." What makes you think it's military? Quote Link to comment
arbalo
at the place there is no population..........and was never.......o.k. probably in stoneage....... the only reason is because it´s LOGE is just known here: http://gnswww.nga.mil/geonames/GNS/index.jsp and this is ( to me ) a MILitary!? arbalo
do you think it makes sence to send an email to "geonames at nga.mil" - will they answer on my question? Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
I have no idea if they will answer, but it costs nothing to try it. Quote Link to comment
+wolves shepherd
Got it. The agency is military related. I didn't realize that at first. Doesn't necessarily mean the waypoint has military significance. It could just be a fluke--an erronous point in the database that no one has removed. With the number of points that DB must have, I would say that is entirely possible. Quote Link to comment
+NickL
I’m not familiar with this data base but guessing from the fact that there are another populated place (PPL) and a farm (FRM) nearby the coordinates may be for a navigation location. Not having access to aeronautical charts I cannot check that. Also being an empty field it may also be some staging area for the area. Quote Link to comment
