+Windsocker Posted January 8, 2005 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Hi Guys, being new to the gps world santa got me a Garmin Etrex Vista C it works fine till i plug it the car charger then after a few minutes the screen freezes up and the only way to cure it is to unplug the power lead and take out a battery (turning the power button has no effect) has anybody got any ideas on this problem ???? [MTB]_Intrepid Posted January 10, 2005 Share Posted January 10, 2005 This may be a silly question, but...when you say "car charger" you do mean a Garmin power adapter specifically for the Vista? The eTrex line is very particular about the voltage levels from external supplies. Anything above 3.3 volts is too much. Just thought I'd ask since nothing else is working. Quote Link to comment

Go here http://www.garmin.com/outdoor/products.html and do a comparison with the Vista C check. Allowed voltage ranges are listed at the bottom of the table. Quote Link to comment
